Bought a four slice toaster and a kettle which cost a small fortune, but sadly the quality of the product doesn’t match the price tag.
First I noticed that every time I turned the toaster on it tripped all the electrics in my kitchen - very annoying - then after one such incident the toaster became faulty as it would only toast one side of the bread.
With the kettle, the lovely enamel colour, which lets face it is the reason we buy Smeg, began blistering in several places and is slowly getting worse with the bubbles becoming larger every time the kettle is boiled.
Both of these faults appeared just outside of their guarantee period so there was nothing I could do about it.
Coincidence? Well from reading some of the very similar complaints on here, I don’t think so. It seems they are only supposed to last for their guarantee period and are then designed to go wrong so you have to replace them.
Replace them I will, but not with Smeg. Very disappointing, overpriced, poor quality products that aren’t made to last. Avoid.
