I arrived at the Uttoxeter superstore 8am today to collect an item I’d purchased from Tesco Direct. I headed for the Customer Service desk, which has been in the same place for years, only to find it had moved. The trouble was, none of the staff I asked knew where it was now located. Finally, I discovered that it was now a part of the tobacco kiosk. This was manned by one member of staff who was obviously serving tobacco, scratch cards, etc and a queue was forming. When it was my turn, the member of staff paged customer services. As the customer service staff appeared, a Tesco supervisor stopped her and gave her a task unconnected to my order, I then had to wait a further 10 minutes before my order was finally retrieved,
It was apparent that there was a complete lack of management in the store. Why not place a notice to say where the (so called) customer service desk is now situated? And why give just one member of the tobacco kiosk staff all the additional responsibility with no back-up? Please train your employees so that they can answer customer questions. Finally, train your supervisory staff to understand the meaning of customer service. I left feeling utterly frustrated and vowing never again to use Tesco Direct.
