On ordering items, we were told some items were out of stock but the email read as if those that were available would be sent out - we ended up waiting weeks for the order as they won’t deliver until everything is available but they don’t tell you that until after you’ve ordered
Finally once everything was in stock I was told delivery would be done by a company called BJS - they outsource all their deliveries.
BJS are a disgrace! The date they were due to come they called to say they were 20 minutes away, 20 mins later they pulled up outside our house. They sat there for approx 2 mins and then drove off, at which point their head office called us to say they could not make the delivery due to bad weather. I advised the van was outside our house just a second ago but had now left and they told me I was wrong and the van was miles away stuck in bad weather.
Cotswolds just booked a new date for delivery, didn’t investigate what had gone on so we waited another week.
BJS came back to deliver and although they delivered the goods they were a nightmare. The two men refused to speak to me, it was surreal, they spoke to each other in another language but when I asked them questions they ignored me. I told them 3 of the items were to be taken upstairs - a service I had paid for. They did not want to do this but eventually said they would - they could barely lift one of the boxes and ended up sliding it up against the wall of the stairs. I asked them to stop but they ignored me. When they got to the top they tipped the box up on its end and with their feet kicked it along the floor - I again asked them to stop and said they were damaging the floor - again ignored. I now have scratches in my flooring, marks all up my stairs and a filthy stairs carpet as they refused to remove their shoes when asked.
One of them then asked to use my bathroom - I said no, purely because it was out of action, I’d had a leak a few days before and the bathroom flooded - the floor was unsafe and there were no lights working so it was pitch black. The guy said it’s fine he can use it, again I said no, it’s not safe to use, I’m not using it so he certainly shouldn’t. His colleague then said he was getting something from the van and left and at the same time the other guy went into the bathroom, shut the door and locked it! I just didn’t understand what was going on and I was on my own a felt quite vulnerable. After 10 minutes the guy came out of the bathroom, walked past me, shut the door and they drove off.
I still had all my items downstairs and none had been unpacked or packaging taken away - which I’d paid for. And to make matter worse my bathroom was left in a disgusting state.
I’ve raised all this with Cotswold and it’s taken them weeks to reply and it’s all email - no one has bothered to call me to discuss it or check that I’m ok. They’ve offered me a small discount on my chest of drawers as when the guys kicked it along the floor they put their foot through the box and damaged it.
Cotswold advertise as a premium brand and charge matching prices but then use the cheapest courier possible who are not equipped to deal with the type of furniture they make and are just awful.
I’m seeking help from citizens advice but I’d give caution ordering from Cotswold Company as they only use BJS as a courier who are rude, incapable of doing the job and damage your property.
