Overall, the chili was in relatively good shape, medium spice, and good flavor! I received the chili late in the afternoon, so I started roasting the very next morning. I removed the chili from the box, so that it wouldn’t spoil. As I remove the chili, I noticed that there was a very large, spoiled, chili pod, at the bottom, of the box.
I roasted a good portion of the day. I noticed that there were some other chilies that were spoiled around the tips and stems. (9-12) I had to pitch the spoiled chilies.
I called and asked if you send the exact weight or send some extra due to problematic chilies. The response I received was “no”, and they couldn’t confirm if I even got my full order weight. I realize that it is late in the season but disappointed that your packing process didn’t monitor and catch the spoiled chilie and that caused others to spoil. If the chilies are freshly picked they should turn red, not spoil. Chilies purchased in this manner is expensive and I expected a better product.
I would appreciate you acknowledging my concerns.
The Hatch Chile Store responded to my review and offered to either pro-rate and provide a refund based upon the spoiled chilies or send me 3 jars of chopped green chilies. I chose to order the jars of chilies and they were delivered a few days later.
