My order on Sept. 16th was for 5 pounds of roasted chilis, 5 pounds of fresh red, and an 11 ounces of green chili powder. I did pay the 2-day shipping as recommended by the Hatch Chili store, but realized that as it was Friday that they most likely wouldn't ship out till Monday for a Wednesday delivery. On Wednesday, 9/21, the tracking number still had not updated, and that should have been my 2-Day delivery time (i.e. I was sitting around waiting) so I contacted the company. I received a reply, "We were not able to get your box out yesterday, but will be sending it out today. You should see movement on your tracking number around 5 pm today. We will be shipping out your powder order later this week."
Okay....
If I had not contacted the company I would not have known this because they did not send me any update or notification that there was a delay, I had to ask. I paid for 2-Day shipping and it took a week, I received my roasted chilis on Friday, 9/23. I'm in Phoenix, AZ and these were coming from one state over, not going across the country.
I received my 5 pounds of chilis on 9/24 and I was home when they arrived in a little styrofoam cooler, opened them right away, and they were not frozen, but still cold, so I threw 4 bags in the freezer and kept out the one that was completely thawed.
I received my chili powder on 9/24 and my fresh red chilis on 9/29. In the interim I surprisingly found some Hatch chilis at a local Sprouts and was able to get a nice quantity that were fresh and firm. My last words on this order from the Hatch Chile Store were that my fresh red chilis were shipped (according to tracking) on Tuesday, 9/27, I received them on Thursday, 9/29, and they were just thrown in a box and the condition was semi-firm, which was disappointing because in comparison I know that I went back several times to the grocery store to buy more at $1.49 a pound and they were very firm and fresh, and most likely they'd been in the store for several days. I was expecting firm, fresh red chilis and got somewhat soft chilis, which did not seem fresh at all, which I've been sitting on as kind of the last straw about this $133.50 experience. They taste good but I drew the short straw regarding this experience.
