Our children had three afternoon group lessons on alternate days in the week over New Year. These group lessons were for groups of four, of which our two children made up half the group, and we had high expectations of these lessons.
Day 1 we met the instructor on time at the meeting point and he checked our names took our two away. We later got a message saying our children had gone with the wrong instructor but they had swapped and were now with the other two members of their group and a different instructor. The communication was good, but it seemed a bit disorganised in the first instance.
At the end of the lesson our children were very underwhelmed, and we were suprised to discover that they hadn't ventured off the magic carpet all lesson, apart from the 1st run with the other instructor. We couldn't notice any change in the way they were skiing the following day, and our daughter still had what seemed to me some fairly basic issues with her stance that were causing her to tire quickly and be very uncomfortable in her ski boots. (Unfortunately she wouldn't listen to me!)
We were also concerned about what seemd to be a disparity in the abilty of members in the group (The level we booked was described for people who had a previous week of skiing, as far as we could tell the other group memebers were on their first ski holiday and had only had a few lessons in the UK before coming).
The second and third lessons were with an Instructor called Paul, and the experience could not have been more different. The kids were full of smiles and clearly buzzing at the end of the lessons. Our daughter was a different skier after the second lesson (the 1st with Paul), her stance had improved, and she got her confidence back and we had an amazing days skiing together the following day as a result. The kids also wanted to take us back to where they had been on the lesson to show us what they had been doing and have another go at some of the jumps and bumps they had been doing!
I couldn't speak highly enough of Paul and we saw the improvement in our childrens skiing from the last two lessons that we had hoped/expected from the outset. This would be a 5-Star review based on Paul's lesson. Sadly the first lesson was a big disappointment . If the limited scope of the 1st lesson had a been a case of laying the ground work then that might have been OK, but in the case of my daughter that didn't seem to have happened (when it clearly did in lesson 2).
