Firstly navigating the website of The Shade was pleasant and easy. I loved the colour consultant to help pick a gorgeous colour. Bellagio - darkest brown was colour I selected. Once my package arrived only a few days later I excitedly opened it up to find a very slick and smart looking little box along with a small black bag. The kit looks great. I like that you get absolutely everything you need. The cape covered great. Also to find a barrier oil and also a colour removal wipe instantly gave me ease knowing I would get a much better colouring experience. The Shade colouring kit looks and feels that it is very professional and upmarket unlike cheap supermarket brands. The mixture spreads surprising well through very thick and long hair. The brush is a good size for application. The hook on end of the brush is great for helping with sectioning hair. There is no chemically smell at all. No over powering perfumes either. I felt No heat or itching on my scalp at all at any stage. I ordered an extra dye for long hair. There was a really good amount within the 2 dyes, there was actually dye left over which never happens with other kits. The dye is not heavy feeling whilst in your hair. The dye did not stain my scalp which I find happens in supermarket kits so I was surprised to notice this. Washing the dye out was easy. The shampoo and conditioner provided has left my hair feeling amazingly soft and light. Unfortunately after leaving the dye on 45 minutes it only covered approximately 90-95% of my grey hair completely. I feel maybe if the mixture was on my hair longer then the 45 minutes it may have achieved 100% My only thought with the kit was that the type of glove almost cheapened the kit. Possibly better fitting gloves would be great but otherwise I love everything about The Shade hair colour kit. I can’t wait to try another colour.
