“I absolutely love the results :) my hair feels so soft and silky afterwards and the colour is a beautiful natural brown. The kit gives you so many tools to use for future dying and the quality of everything was great. I have very long hair so there was more than enough product to colour everything. In these lockdown times, it was great to have everything delivered to my door in an all-in-one easy kit. I’m thinking I may never need to go to a salon for colouring anymore haha. Thank you The Shade xoxo”

“Hair feels incredible! I have naturally dark blonde hair with grown out blonde highlights. A bit darker than expected but it's only a semi permanent so not a problem. I wanted to darken my grown out blonde highlights and give a more even look. Mixed 50:50 - 8.1 (Ash Blonde) : 8.2 (Beige Blonde)”

Hi Jennifer, I'm sorry you didn't get the colour result you were looking for. I can see that you didn't complete our Online Colour Consultation, or contact one of our colourists for advice before purchasing. Had you contacted us, we certainly wouldn't have recommended the colour you chose. An orange/brassy result will be seen when you lighten your hair by too many levels. “My colour is an equal mix of 6.1 and 5.1 with 27 volume developer. I absolutely love it and it covers my greys really well. My only wish would be to know more easily when you have half a tube of colour!”

Hi Debra, I have just checked your order, and you ordered Torino 8.3 Golden Blonde which is a warm-based colour. A warm result is expected when Torino is used. “I bought this product as I’m very conscious of unnecessary chemicals But I didn’t realise until I purchased the hair colour that it had Propylene Glycol which is a bad ingredient they use in car engines etc Why would you state free from all nasties but it’s not ?? I’m very disappointed I wasted my money on this product”

Hi Kerrie, Propylene Glycol is perfectly safe to use in hair care products in concentrations less than 50%, which our products most certainly are. It is a common ingredient in hair care products due to its ability to help products retain moisture and prevent them from drying out. Propylene Glycol is also commonly found in many packaged foods, such as drink mixes, dressings, dried soups, cake mix, soft drinks, popcorn, food coloring, fast foods, bread and dairy products. Hi Caroline, Sorry to hear that you have had a reaction to our products. We only hear of reactions very rarely, but it's generally because of an allergy to an ingredient in our colour. Our colour formula has eliminated some of the key ingredients which can trigger allergic reactions (such as PPD) but there are lots of other ingredients in our colour and you may be allergic of any of them. Some of our colours have slightly different ingredients than others, so we have listed the ingredients for each colour seperately, which you can find here: https://theshade.com.au/ingredients/ There is also ingredients for all our other products including the developer which you mix with the colour. So the best thing to do is take note of the ingredients of the exact colour you used and provide that information to your GP. Your doctor should be able to help with that, which will then help you avoid products with that ingredient in the future. Wishing you the best. X

“It was great for a while but then two of my orders are still in the mail, so I had to order another and I still haven’t received the other two months later and no refund. I’m not sure what’s going on so I’ve paused my membership. I can’t keep paying for things I don’t receive.”

Dear Clare, So sorry that you had such a frustrating experience! Unfortunately, when orders are collected by the courier, they are literally out of our hands. Almost all packages are delivered promptly, but during peak periods such as Black Friday/Christmas, delays can occur due to the sheer volume. We note that you have ordered from us ten times this year, so we are glad that you are happy with the product overall and the delivery times for your other orders from us. Unfortunately in this instance, one of your orders was delayed and the other was misplaced by the courier. “For someone who has never home coloured their hair I was apprehensive about choosing, using and getting the colour results I Iike. I have very fine hair down to my waist with a mix of dark blondes, reds and fading white blondes from bleaching and dare I admit it, some greys ("sparkles") as my niece calls them. So its not easy to colour for even an expert hairdresser! I wanted to go a little darker and get grey coverage. The result was a beautful shade of chesnut that actually far better suits my skin tone and my eyebrow tattoo colours. I am so happy with this first attempt! The advice Camilla has given me for the next round if I want to create some low and high-lights is very detailed and I feel like I can't go wrong. I am really happy I chose to use "The Shade". The selfie is my old colour and the other is me trying on my dream wedding dress for next year with my new stylish hair colour!”
