I love the IDEA of The Shade, but the experience wasn't fantastic. First of all, the packaging was great and the little at-home kit with the brush and bowl are made well. Unfortunately, the barrier oil smelled awful; I didn't even put it on and decided to use some moisturiser instead. The hair dye itself was fine and the colour came out nice. I had a bit of staining around my hairline, so I went to use the dye remover wipe. Wowza! Big mistake. It felt like my skin was burning, and I had to wash it off straight away. Overall, this system might work well for those who aren't as conscientious about the chemicals they put on their skin (it is hair dye, after all), but I won't be using it again. It seems like a total waste to buy the whole kit when I will only be using the colour cream.
