Thrillophilia review
This was the best trekking experience that I have had in my life! I had booked this trip via Thrillophilia. Even before the start of this trip, the agent (Shashank) with whom we had inquired about the trek was extremely helpful and patient while solving all our queries. He had given us all the necessary information regarding the trek in a very detailed and elaborate manner and I have to say, before the beginning of the trip, we already had a very good idea of what to expect on the trek.
With the support and Thrillophilia and Himalaya shelter team, Everything was perfect and the trek was beyond my expectations (11/10). This review is not only based on my own experiences but also my trek team members with whom I had completed the trek:
1) Transportation- When we reached Dehradun at 5:30 a.m, the driver informed us that he will be present there to pick us up at sharp 7:30 a.m. However, when he was informed that many people are present at the pick-up point, the driver reached there at 7 am so that nobody has to wait for a longer duration. It was such a good gesture on the part of the driver as during that time, everything was closed in Dehradun and there wasn’t any place where we could wait for a longer period of time
2) Stay - The stay was very comfortable and the tents were of superb quality! After we reached sankri, a hotel with triple sharing was arranged with us which had all the modern accessories and the comfort of any good hotel. The washrooms were very good and the room was warm and cozy with multiple things such as night stands, cupboards, geaser facility etc. It was -3 degree temperature in Sankri at 9 pm but the room was cozy and we were provided with thick blankets because of which we did not feel the bitter cold in the night.
When we reached our first campsite near Juda Ka talab, the tents were neat and spacious and were of good quality. After these tents were zipped, you could be assured that not even a small amount of the cold winds would reach the inside of the tents. Along with it, the sleeping bags were comfortable and were of free-size which was easy for everyone to get in and out and sleep peacefully. The tents were also located close of each other because of which it was very easy for all of us to interact with each other and navigate ourselves to the dining area and other places.
3) Food- Food is where I was surprised by the arrangements. Everyday we were served with the best quality of food which was full of flavours and had all the important nutrition ingredients required for us to complete the trek. There was variety in every meal and we were served the meals in a uniform order (breakfast, snacks,
Lunch, evening snacks and subsequently dinner). Along with the meals, we were also served with deserts which were Gulab jamuns, Coconut barfi, seviyan kheer etc. which no one could have expected to get in such a place.
4) Trekking and guide experience- This is the most important part of the review. To complete the trek we were given Trekking poles (exclusive of the trip costs), Crampons and gators (at no extra costs) which were very helpful for us during trekking. In case anyone missed some important things during their packing (woollen socks, jackets, track pants) they could be purchased additionally from the rental shop available at the camp site. Every single day before we were set to begin the treks, we were given a thorough briefing about the trek, what all can you encounter and what to carry with you for the trek and I have to say that it was very accurate- we followed their instructions to the word and there wasn’t even a single moment where we found discomfort or felt that we do not have the appropriate gear for us to complete the trek with ease. It was a very challenging but safe trek and our guides - Surendra Rana sir and Thoiba sir were always there with us to ensure there isn’t any injury or accident that can happen to us during the trek.
THIS EXPERIENCE WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN AMAZING WITHOUT RANA SIR AND THOIBA SIR!!! During the summit when we were extremely tired and were on the verge of giving up, they motivated us and gave us useful insights because of which we ended up climbing the top of the summit only because of their support and guidance. This was the best trek I have done so far and the credit goes to the team of Rana sir and thoiba sir and Priyal Ma’am from Thrillophilia. It was because of the trek that most of the members including me felt accomplished and satisfied with what we had seen and formed close bonds outside the trekking experience and are still connected with some of the members thanks to Thrillophilia 😉
