Me and my spouse recently embarked on a 12-day bike trip to Ladakh with Thrillophilia, expecting an adventure of a lifetime. Despite their good reviews (which we later discovered were bought through contests and free trips), our experience was marred by numerous issues with their services, hospitality, and issue resolution.
Key Issues:
1.False Commitments: The group size exceeded the promised limit. We were told that the group would consist of 20-25 pax, but there were 34 participants and 23 bikes, with only one Marshal.(on checking with other passerby group we got to know that they had 2 Marshal with 12 bikes)
2.Accommodation and Itinerary Changes: Last-minute changes were made without prior notice, resulting in inferior stays. The camp mentioned in our itinerary was changed(lying that it had some plumbing issue), and we were not informed until we arrived.
3.No Oxygen Cylinder or Help for Sick Riders: 6 riders fell sick, and no assistance was provided(other than just hot water). Despite knowing that Sarchu is the coldest, no oxygen cylinders were available in the support vehicle or the camps for the first 2 days. Luckily, we had doctors in our group who helped.
(Please note our Marshal, ground-team and bikes were changed from day 3)
4.No Backup Arrangements: Riders were denied help despite being promised backup options during booking. A fellow rider was denied assistance despite being down with a 103° fever. This lack of support was alarming and put rider's health at risk. (1 biker did receive backup who was suffering from oxygen issue)
5.Unprofessional Marshal (first 2 days): The Marshal was rude, ill-behaved, and uncooperative. He led the group for the first 2 days, causing chaos and threatening to ruin the trip. His behavior was unacceptable and created a hostile environment.
6.Delayed Departures: Late starts and night travel despite promises to the contrary. We started late almost every day, causing us to reach our destinations late. This disrupted our schedule and caused fatigue.
7.No Preplanning: Hotel check-ins and lunch breaks were disorganized and time-consuming. Check-ins took at least 1.5 hours every day, wasting our valuable time and energy.
8.Departure Issues: Airport drop was delayed by more than an hour, causing stress for some riders. Only one cab was appointed for almost 20 members, resulting in delays and inconvenience.
Positives:
The second Marshal and his team were helpful and courteous.
They assisted riders during water crossings and if around, helped everyone in their best possible way.
Conclusion:
We strongly advise against choosing Thrillophilia due to their marketing gimmicks, poor services, and unprofessional behavior. Research thoroughly and opt for a reputed travel company instead.
