Two weeks out from our trip, we booked a black 2014 Chevy Tahoe from Shahed. At 3am on the day of vehicle pick up, I was awoken by a text message from Shahed saying he canceled the trip. I messaged him to ask why and he claimed that Turo had made a huge error and that he was on the phone with them trying to figured it out. He said he would get back to me. In the meantime, I contacted Turo customer support, and the rep said there was no known reason for the cancelation and that they would contact Shahed to rebook. After 10 minutes of waiting, Turo customer support said Shahed was not answering their calls or messages; at the same time, Shahed was responding to my messages, telling me to follow the instructions of Turo customer support to rebook. Long story short, Shahed with the black 2014 Chevy Tahoe canceled our trip and then reposted his vehicle as available for twice as much money than we were paying. To put it plainly, Shahed is a scumbag. At about 4am on the day of vehicle pick up, we booked a new vehicle through Turo customer service - a white 2018 Toyota 4Runner owned by Rodrigo. The customer service agent was as accommodating as possible and booked the new, more expensive ride at the same price as our original booking. That same morning - the day of pick up - at about 9:30am, I received a message from Rodrigo saying he had canceled the trip because the vehicle was overdue for maintenance. He said, "Sorry about that." Yeah, me too, Rodrigo with the white 2018 Toyota 4Runner. At the very least, you are irresponsible. After speaking with Turo customer service again, we learned that vehicle owners are not allowed to do this without submitting proof to Turo that the maintenance was needed and/or done. Rodrigo's vehicle was suspended by Turo until further verification of needed maintenance. Mid-morning on the day of vehicle pick up, we booked a new vehicle through Turo customer service - a white 2023 Nissan Armada Platinum owned by Corona Nissan - at the same price we were originally scheduled to pay for Scumbag Shahed's old Tahoe and Irresponsible Rodrigo's neglected 4Runner. That afternoon, we drove 30 minutes to Corona Nissan to pick up the Armada. The vehicle waiting for us looked like the right vehicle, but had the wrong license plate and was an SL instead of Platinum. Long story short, after close to an hour of sorting out the confusion with Turo, we were not supposed to get the Platinum model, so we went home with the SL vehicle. This would have been fine except that when we go the vehicle home, we discovered it was infested with ants. Another 30 minute drive out to Corona and 30 minutes back, with time-consuming confusion in between (all due to Turo, not Corona Nissan), we went home with the Platinum model. The vehicle was in excellent condition, was the perfect size and fit for our family road trip, and we could not have been more satisfied with the vehicle. To be clear, the people who helped us at Corona Nissan were wonderful. We will gladly do business with Corona Nissan in the future. All of the issues and confusion we had with the rental were strictly with Turo and the two individual vehicle owners who canceled our trips last minute. It's unfortunate that I'm unable to leave reviews with those individuals (since we never used their vehicles). In the end, we were blessed with an even better vehicle than Shahed's Tahoe or Rodrigo's 4Runner, and we are lifelong fans of Corona Nissan. We will never use Turo again.
