I started renting from Turo four years ago and initially loved it. In recent months, it has changed drastically and I think people need to be very aware and very careful. The fees they attack on after you return the car, especially if you are picking up and dropping off at an airport has become out of control. There is zero customer service if you have a dispute. And you will have to pay the fee to get the car out of the airport parking lot. When you add all of this up, it really doesn’t make sense anymore. Not to mention that you are asked to take almost 60 pictures during your trip to verify the condition of the vehicle , should there be a dispute. I’ve had good luck renting from friendly and reasonable owners, but the company itself is a disaster. They are based in San Francisco and offer zero customer service so you’ll be stuck with charges on your credit card that are virtually impossible to discuss with them. I went ahead and filed a claim with American Express to dispute charges we received on a recent trip, I have now tried to delete my account and ironically I keep getting an error message saying the “system is down” and they cannot delete my account. A bunch of monkey business going on here and I would stay far far away. It’s a shame they used to be good .
