Let e start with some background. I shipped a box from Australia to South Africa through ParselAbc that used UPS as the service provider. The package was delivered, but the two valuable items, an iPhone and Tablet, were not in the box. There was no visible damage to the package. I reported this both to ParselAbc and UPS. UPS then reluctantly lodged a claim, but the insured value was only $ 300. I could never understand why this is an insurance claim and why UPS is condoning the theft in its warehouse.
I suspect there is organised crime in the JHB warehouse unless there is an explanation of how two items disappear from a sealed undamaged box. I can only assume a UPS employee removed it. How is it possible to take it off the facility without security and logistics help?
Yes, I think UPS should take responsibility for this internal issue and indemnify me, but that has become secondary for me. The primary problem is the obligation to expose the criminal activities in an international organisation that one would expect to reputable.
