UPS in Germany was the worst delivery service I have ever experienced.
We were expecting a large delivery that was already on its way to us, and then we received a notification from UPS that it would be delivered soon.
Unfortunately, we were already on vacation at that time, so we wanted the delivery to be handed over to our neighbors. We tried to manage this in the UPS app, but it wasn’t possible due to an error in the app.
Then we started endless, tedious phone calls with the UPS customer center, which were not only a complete waste of time since we didn’t receive any help, but also totally confusing!
In one of the first calls, we were told that there was currently a system error, making it impossible to change the details to have the delivery redirected to our neighbors the next day. We were assured that if we called the customer center the next morning, we could have the delivery redirected to our neighbors.
After this call, we received an email with the delivery times for the next day. It was already a large time window (around 4 hours).
The next day, we called the UPS customer center again and found out that the delivery attempt had already been made—2 hours before the stated delivery time!
We were furious and called the UPS customer center again, only to be told the biggest nonsense. They said that it was possible to have the packages stored at the UPS center and that we had one month (!) to pick them up. I asked multiple times if this was really the case. Yes, I was assured. We then chose the option to have the packages delivered to the UPS center.
The next day, we received an email saying that we had 5 days to pick up the packages there...
As a result, I had to pay someone to pick up the packages from the UPS center, as we were still on vacation.
Who is going to reimburse us for the costs incurred due to UPS's unprofessionalism?
