Never sign up with this company, I got landed with the as my tenant signed up to them unknown to me.
Upon taking possession of the property back I realised that I had been paying off the tenants debt as Utility hadn’t cleared it or correctly set up a new account. I tried to resolve this but 9 telephone calls all over 40 minutes long it’s still not sorted. Utilita keep changing their requirements from me to set up the account and repay the overpayments I’ve made, they initially asked for the Land Registry documents Title Deeds for the property to prove I was the owner. After getting these from Land Registry and submitting to Utilita they said they were not the official documents despite these coming directly from Land Registry Scotland, Utilita then demanded a solicitors verified letter stating I was owner. I have owned the property for around 20 years and managed hundreds of properties through my career and have never been requested to submit documents like this to utility companies.
Utilita are a disgrace and should be investigated by the relevant authority for illegal charging and refusal to reimburse.
If this review stop one customer signing up to Utilita great, hopefully hundreds will read this and go elsewhere. If they were offering free gas and electricity I would still find another supplier.
