We had a 4 day Gold Break at Gunton Hall Suffolk, re-booked from April 2020 owing to the Pandemic.
The staff are always chatty and helpful. On a previous visit in June 2021 to Gunton Hall we made a complaint about slow waiter/waitress service in the Theatre (we waited 30 minutes to be served drinks). This has now been addressed and the staffing levels have improved. We still have a gripe concerning the price of alcoholic drinks and lunch time food. We tend to lunch off site now and limit ourselves to no more than two drinks each in the evening. The quality of the food was adequate but not as good as in pre-pandemic times. Would like to see the return of the evening carvery and self service salad bar. There are still no salad options on the evening menu. If you require a coffee after dinner it still has to be purchased as a separate item.
Our week was a Gold 4 night break, with ballroom, and sequence dancing offered. The resident band played only 4 ballroom dances before they moved onto general disco dancing. The lack of ballroom and Latin dancing was disappointing and not as advertised.
To warrant the increase cost of the holiday package, drinks and lunch time food we feel Warners need to up their game to pre-pandemic levels and give us back the experience we used to look forward to every time we booked.
