Do Not Buy Bikes from Argos if You Want to Stay alive. And I am not even joking.
I am absolutely horrified by my experience with Argos and their handling of a life-
threatening issue involving a self-assembly bike I purchased. The bike had a clear
manufacturing defect, which I noticed after the accident I had. After reaching out to
Argos, I provided all the evidence, including photos showing a misfit rim and serious
safety concerns. I said I will escalate issue further if they will not resolve the case as
they ought to.
Despite this, Argos ignored me and gaslighted me throughout the process. When I
asked for documentation of the bike’s quality check, I received no response, just
plain email included in this review. Andrew H., an Argos executive, denied any
responsibility, blaming me entirely as the customer. He also failed to acknowledge
the fact that I had already taken the bike for an independent quality check, which
revealed the bike’s instability and safety risks, including a misfit rim and potential
brake failure. Argos never conducted their own quality check, and it’s clear from their
response that they were trying to avoid any accountability. Andrew H. was a second
executive who was dealing with my complaint. The first executive, Lee H., have
never took my complaint seriously and had a hope I will forget about what happened
to me, by simply ignoring me. So I had to remind them about my case starting again
from the scratch and receiving new case number. Don’t ask what has happened with
my complaint with executive Lee-I was never updated on that. This is warning to
YOU, every potential customer. Andrew told me Argos is not responsible for safety of
the products they are selling, which in reality they are responsible for selling unsafe
products under The Consumer Protection Act 1987. Remember that. And remember,
he was trying to avoid responsibility but do not mind having a position of executive,
while being incompetent of owning it.
This bike should NEVER have been sold. It is a serious safety hazard that could
have resulted in severe injury or worse. Argos' executives refusal to acknowledge
the issue and their dismissive attitude towards customer safety is shocking. My
experience has left me with lasting health consequences, and I strongly advise
anyone to avoid purchasing bikes from Argos. Their negligence and lack of
responsibility make them a company that simply cannot be trusted when it comes to
your safety. Simply because they have clueless executives who only counting profits
over customers safety. Do not make the same mistake I did—stay far away from
Argos when it comes to bikes!
