COVID19 = No customer service
Just brought a fridge freezer which requires 2 people to handle. I live in a flat in a converted house on the first floor, which requires climbing up stairs to enter the flat. Upon delivery of my very large and very heavy item, I was told the delivery men were unable to take it upstairs due to COVID19. I gave space for social distancing to remain in place (even though there was no social distancing between the delivery men themselves). I didn't even need them to place it in my kitchen, just to get it up the stairs. But this was refused after several times of asking.
So my fridge freezer was left at the base of my step in the entry to my flat, which meant I was unable to even close my flat door.
Whilst I understand the need to protect staff this is a stupid policy that endangers people. I am 3 months pregnant and had to drag a heavy appliance upstairs and risk a miscarriage or back injury.
If I had been an elderly or disabled person would the drivers had done the same?
