Asda the third largest supermarket has recently posted record profits of £1.1bn. Within days of the announcing this 24% increase it informed holders of the Blue Lights card it was halving their discount.
Blue Light cardholders are existing and retired front line workers in the NHS, police and fire service. Companies are encouraged to join this scheme and help these staff deal with increasing cost of living. Asda has been offering a 10% reduction on fresh food and certain basic food ranges but this has now been cut to 5% and all essential range cheapest foods have been removed from the scheme.
At least we’ve got Aldi and Lidl in Eastbourne who give excellent value and have loos that work.
