Here's my E dreams experience:
Like many, I got roped into the cheap deals and booked with them (flights only).
After that... I hit the online review forums and 'man oh man' was I sweating bricks after a few hours of straight panic from all the negative reviews.
I finally received my booking confirmation and when you book with them online, you have the options of using their PRIME service or not. I chose not but the cheeky buggers get you subscribed via the emails you receive with your confirmation. All in all, you can't avoid the subscription and they offer a 2 week free trail before they begin charging. Luckily I was flying out within that time.
I suggest you keep an eye out for the subscription deadline and just cancel a good few days prior.
So now that I'm booked and confirmed, I checked the bookings on the main airline websites and as the reviews stated... Errors.
This is probably why its important to just book directly with airlines but since I caught it early, I managed to use the PRIME to sort out any details of my trip. I had two different airlines so I had to get the flight number for the second one which was not correct in the original edreams booking.
Alot of reviewers have been stranded at airports because of this and even missed their flights due to itinerary errors so PLEASE do diligence and make sure your bookings on the actual airline websites match the edreams one. PRIME also informs you on when you can check in online which was very convenient.
If you have any detail changes, such as passport and personal info edits, this is when you make them. If you can, use the free PRIME trial well to make sure your flight plan and details are perfect. Please don't wait till its too late.
If anything outside your booking happens such as flight delays or cancellations... Sorry to say but you are screwed.
The advantage of PRIME is you don't have to wait on the phone long and your query is sorted quickly. It was a long research project to find their contacts as many callers claimed they couldn't get through to the customer services but if you are in the UK, this is the number I used: +442086118966
When it comes to cancelling the PRIME, be prepared for the sales pitch script which they MUST go through to confirm you know what you are "Giving up" before processing the cancellation. You need to get an email to confirm the cancellation aswell. Alot of reviews claim they had money taken from their accounts even after cancellation and I relayed this to the operator and he said that happens when they do not go through the right channels (call) to cancel.
Other than that, the process wasn't bad and my trip went smoothly. Thankfully.
Would I use them again... sure (though they claim to 'resubscribe' to PRIME is another bill in itself).
Is it better booking on direct airline webpages - ABSOLUTELY!
Best of luck.
