I never dealt with Overstock before, but a couple of weeks ago I was unfortunate enough to purchase a rug from them just because they had the odd size I needed. Obviously I had to provide my personal info. I have no problem with the item I received, but the spam that followed from Overstock was overwhelmingly disturbing, literally dozens of emails with bogus ads. They also followed me on Internet- every site I visited was half filled with Overstock ads. I had to log in my Overstock account, manually unsubscribe from every item and blacklist their site on my browser. But the other day I received a letter from Overstock Comenity bank telling me that they checked my credit and pre-approved me for credit card. I did not apply/ authorize them to make credit inquiries!! In addition I'm now harassed with obscene number of spam phone calls like the switch was turned on, and the only entity I shared my info with was Overstock.
