Looks like I'm not the only person to think this company is a scam, huh?
Attempted to rent in Cancun. Even purchased insurance through them. Got to the Europcar facility and they denied my insurance. Also denied my Chase Sapphire Preferred card auto coverage insurance, and expected me to purchase their insurance that would cost me double the car rate. That was obviously a scam by the Mexico Europcar company. I cancelled the rental after picking up a car from a more reputable company, and filed a claim with both rentalcars.com and my credit card company. I never heard from rentalcars.com, but my credit card company sent me a very detailed explanation why they expected me to pay the charge, even though I didn't use the car.
They have no idea what a bored, retired engineer can do with his copious amounts of screen time. If I don't get the money back, it'll be $250 US of "entertainment expenses".
