I made a reservation to pick up a car at Jacksonville Airport (FL) at 11 pm (Feb 2023) and paid it in advance ($227 USD) just to ensure I had no issues with a night arrival. My flight arrived at 11:25 pm. When I got to the counter, the rental car agency said they had no cars available because of some military convention most of the day. In fact, none of the rental car agencies at the airport had any cars. I showed them my prepaid rental receipt/voucher, but since I rented through Rentalcars.com they asked me to contact Rentalcars.com to explain the situation, and I would get a refund because they did not have any available cars.
I had to contact Rentalcars.com several times through online chat, phone calls, and email correspondence to ask for my refund. After they verified all the information I provided, they refused (June 2023) to refund my money because my flight arrived 25 minutes past the reservation time. In over 35 years of renting cars, I have never had an issue with arriving an hour before or an hour after, let alone for 25 minutes!!!
I have to agree with other reviews when they say Rentalcars.com does not care about customer service or customer satisfaction, but only about making a buck. I will never even consider using their services again!
