Misled by constant commercial pop-ups and apparent low prices, I booked a car with RentalCars....and that turned out to be my biggest nightmare and regret. Renlcars are nothing but legal scammers. Here is my story and my arguments. Firstly at the airport, they harassed me with the exorbitant insurance of 1200$ on top of the rental fee of about 550$. I should also pay and a security deposit of $2300 (which deposit has never been returned). The car I was given was a smaller class/ type than the one I had booked and paid for. I booked a wagon but was given a simple fiat tipo..Be aware that they provide/show you the car only once you paid and signed off the contract. I should have canceled everything right at the airport and leave away, but I was too exhausted from the long flight to reconsider or argue about the car. Also, the car they gave me was dented, scratched, and damaged, having some mechanical problems that it almost left on the way... The worst is that they never refunded me the deposit I made at the Airport ($2300): When I returned the car at the airport, the car was inspected, accepted, and cleared. The service men put a refund-due stamp and told me to wait 30 days for my deposit refund. After 35 days no deposit was received. When I first communicated with their customer service, they required copies of my contract and bank transactions to prove that no refund had been made. I provided all required proofs and documents. Then Rentalcars responded to me with some broad and meaningless emails that are in the peak season and being too busy they cannot investigate...Apparently, the non-refund is a recurrent practice with Rentalcars, because the few emails they sent me were generic, like for any complaint and any issue.... After a few more complaints and emails from my side, Rentalcars ultimately responded that they could not provide any further support about the issue and referred me to my bank for a chargeback...and closed my case. So ultimately, I am left on my own and depend upon my bank if it will be able to recover this money. Bottom line: avoid Rentalcars by any means if you don't want to ruin your vacation and be scammed thousands of dollars. I wonder how such crooks were given an office at the airport.
