I live on Hawkes Bay and i have my vehicles with AA but when I wanted to insure my house and contents I found they are $1300 per annum mor expensive than AMP (underwritten by Vero) which prove a very comprehensive policy.

Well, well, well. Don’t claim folks! I have had one claim in roughly 25 years of driving and my premium went up by 29.8%. One word. UNBELIEVABLE! I phoned this afternoon to ask why and I was told because I had a recent claim. The man Simon that I spoke with wasn’t particularly pleasant. I guess he didn’t like it when I told him this was laughable. He said “No it’s not laughable”. I agree! Do better please. I pay my premium on time every single time and this is what you do?

A torture to try and contact for a simple matter; multiple buttons to press, forced listen to a tortuous droning recording voice, then when you speak to someone, you get sent to some other line, long delays, endless music and recording corporate marketing - the usual mind bending corporate torture messages. This used to be a great company before they got onto the 'hub' mentality, lost staff and lost real person customer service. There roadside services are all you want from this crowd.

I sold my home. When I contacted AA to advise, all my details were taken and I was told it was sorted. I was then called back and told that, as I had rung more than a month in advance, it wasn't sorted after all, and I would have to call back within a month of wanting to cancel the policy. When I rang back, I had to go through everything again, as the details of the previous call had not been saved. I had to call again today, having received an email advising of the renewal of the home policy. I also queried the fact that on 21 October the full monthly payment was taken from my account. I was then told that once the payment was received at your end, I would receive a credit and that this should have been explained during my previous calls....it wasn't mentioned in either. Not impressed with the lack of customer service.

Had 2 issues with a camper van that led to the intervention of AA. Both times the announced intervention duration was off and the intervention delayed. The second time, the intervention was announced within an hour. Two hours later, I called back. They said they would call the team to check ETA. They announced an intervention 20 minutes later. One hour later, I called back. They announced an intervention 15 minutes later. When I complained that the times they gave us were hard to trust, they answered in a very annoyed way that there were delays in my area, which they had not announced at any point during prior conversations. All this was particularly difficult to deal with since the break down occurred in an area without cellular reception. I had to hitch hike my way back and forth to a point with cellular reception, each time leaving my 3 kids and wide behind. I explained this on the phone but received only an annoyed reaction (a realistic ETA would have saved 4 hitch-hiking trips). In the end, the issue (overheating brakes) was benign and could likely have been diagnosed on the phone.
