“Do not use Argus Car Rental Company! They are a scam. They charged my credit card for the car hire however when I could not rent the car as I was not informed that an international driver's license was required they would not refund me. They provide no service whatsoever, book directly with the car company.

“Total scam - you don't need to use them and they have insanely high change fees. Just book directly with the rental company providing the car. Argus is nothing but a middle man that provides no value to you (and in fact may end up costing way extra). In my case I wanted to change my reservation by two days for the same total number of days (start two later, end two later) and was changed an 'amendment' fee that was only 10 USD less than the total value of my original booking. Basically, I paid about twice what it would have cost me had I just booked through the end provider (Sixt) and used their flexible book option (which is a modest extra $2/day rather than the huge fee Argus charged despite my very small change).”

I was told they do not have any cars and haven't had any since the previous evening at 6 PM. Left me and my family stranded with no car. We had to rent a car at triple the usual prices. “ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! we arrived in Portugal last night to collect our car after bookingwith Argus. After speaking on webchat about the premium insurance and argus confirming it covers you like fully comp we went for it for piece of mind. Arriving at goldcar we were told the insurance isn't worth the paper it's written on and covers the roof and underneath of the car! I called argus and was told they cannot refund the policy even though I was standing at the desk and had not claimed the car! I asked for a manager and as of you no one has had the decency to respond. We had to pay 150 euros insurance then and extra couple of payments due to the highways in Portugal. Overall we were slapped with a 490 euro bill as we landed. It got to 10pm and no call and we were stranded with 3 children. We had no choice but to pay and take the car. I went on webchat this morning with Mohammad and was told as I took the car he wouldn't refund the Insurance. I explained I called from the desk and was waiting for a manager and he locked the chat off so I couldn't respond.the most despicable company that are ready to ruin holidays by their misleading acts to make money. I will be reporting them.”

The Argus website advised me to buy insurance for £25, (I knew about the extraordinary insurance premium that Goldcar hard sell to people) Goldcar said that this was pointless and I should purchase theirs for €130 or leave a deposit for, wait for it, €1100! (Incidentally, I wouldn't trust these snakes with €1100.)
And it had to be on a credit card which we don't have. We reluctantly paid €130. Then had to pay €100 in case we didn't return the car fully fueled.
So all in all a £65 car hire turned into £65 + £25 + €135 + €100. Plus the car wasn't ready and we have to walk to two different location to pick it up ourselves. We filled all of the document with arrival times and flight details.
I swore that I would never use them again last time we used them, unfortunately, brokers due refer you to them and you don't know until you book. Stay away from them at all costs and find another provider. MONEY GRABBING COWBOYS”
