“BEWARE
Fraudulent, filthy scammers who need to be cancelled and hard! While searching for a book I wanted, they listed the book at a certain price to lure you in. Made the purchase thinking I bought the book but I actually was buying inconspicuously, a membership to which they continue to charge me monthly despite requesting for a cancellation immediately. Apparently they are “unable to cancel your membership” according them. BEWARE of these lifelong leeches, don’t get caught being stolen from by them.”

Misleading advertiement
Misleading advertiement. They claim you can exchange books (implying it is not a hassle like their competition). You can't even find help to exchange on their site typing in "return". You have to cancel the trial to get their attention and then you cant evenly exchange. It is double to get another book. They won't offset it and they tell you your good to go so you will restart the membership and then immediately charge your card for a months dues.
Do not use Audiobookstore. Use Audible (at least they do not mislead about their charges) or use your library or even Amazon if you have to. Do not get suckered in by this company.
In response to their reply. They did not tell me that all the following books were double. They told me they would give me a credit for another book. What I got from them was my book download taken away and charged an additional 7.95. I got a 7.95 credit that is worthless. Their return policy is a scam as well as their advertisement. They hide behind small print and ambiguity and would rather trash their customer over $14.90 then do the right thing. How they will treat you is exactly what they are doing to me. Their response says it all. If you want scammed, mislead, your money and books taken, and mistreated then by all means, sign up with Audiobookstore.”
“DO NOT give your credit card details to this business. They never stop taking your money! No matter how many times you try to cancel and contact them!”
“If I could give this company zero or even negative stars I would. Fortunately I didn't fall for the monthly subscription scam, and I used PayPal so they didn't get my credit card info, but I only bought from them and not Audibles or other streaming service requiring a proprietary mobile app because their website promised me I could download my audiobook as MP3, but after they got my money they gave me this BS about "Unfortunately due to technical issues beyond our control, we’re having to discontinue allowing downloading of audiobooks for the time being." Their website LIED to me, and I want my money back!!!”
“no idea why everyone’s complaining. it was obvious it was a subscription i was signing up to and you can cancel it anytime. i can get audiobooks from here that are otherwise impossible to get, for very good prices”
“The advertising did not clearly tell you that you need to pay for any future books after you paid the monthly fees. The US$7.95 monthly fee is only for you get a discounted prices each month. Don't be tricked.”
“Dear Read,
The Bad: Faulty Product, No Chapter Seperation, No Returpolicy*, I got a Search-link to a "product fix" from customer service, that didnt solve the problem. Just a direct would be the minimum.
The Good: Speedy delivery. Fast download.
This is some textbook-how-not-to-treat-customer stuff right here :)
*Technically they have one, but dont follow it.”
“Dear Lord, help any poor human who wants to engage with audiobookstore and their vile "customer service" representative Quinn.
DO NOT ENTER YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS. DONT DO IT.
I bought one audiobook in March last year and remember cancelling. I had to cancel my card with my bank after they billed me for over a year. Even after I got a NEW CARD, I was still receiving texts from my bank saying that they were trying to put transactions through on my old card even after I stopped it months ago.
DENY DENY DENY DENY is all they know.
I never got one email from them saying t
hat your credit card details need to be replaced. I never got an email address verification link, so anyone can just use a fake email and put your card details. And then they'll flip it back on you!
Don't TRUST these people! It is a SCAM!”
“I bought a book several months ago, for $7.95, and apparently clicked a button that signed me up to pay a monthly fee of the exact same amount – $7.95. I just realized that I was still paying this, several months, later. I wanted to actually the use the service and buy book but it wasn't available in their library. So why am I paying a monthly subscription again if I can't even buy books?
The thing that drove me to write. negative review was the exchange with their customer service rep, Quinn. Incredibly arrogant, patronizing, and kinda aggressive. Accused me of "definitely intentionally" paying for the book. Then in a later email, wrote that my claim was "not true at all and what you're bragging about doing is credit card fraud. The appropriate documentation will be filed with your bank including all emails." (I contested the charges with my bank. Quinn said he will reimburse me for about 50% of the months I was charged for.)
This is a scam, ya'll.”
“Was charged a membership fee after never resolving that i couldn't log on. Kept looping to login invalid even though s same as email I signed up with. Never resolved, never access service. Would like a class action suit against this company.”
“Audiobook Store tricks you into a useless subscription of $7.95 per month by offering a ridiculously low price on your first book and then charges your credit card every month regardless. An expensive lesson. Stay away!”
“Stay away from this company!! They make false claims of fraud even when you engage honestly with them!!
Quinn, Customer Service contacted my bank accusing me of fraud and accused me of trying to get a $19.95 audiobook for free. I had not downloaded any books after signing up for for the Flexpass. My problems with this company started when I thought someone had obtained my credit card number and purchased a book from them.
I wrote an email to this company and chatted with Quinn (Customer Service) asking if someone had hacked their accounts? I blocked the charges and changed my bank card because a charge appeared in my online banking with an address that was not the same as the company's address associated with the charge for my new membership.
While chatting with Quinn in an attempt to explain everything and requested that my credit card number be removed from my audiobookstore account so that whoever had found my card number could not longer use it. Quinn assured me this could be done while maintaining an active account. Suddenly, he rudely ended the chat and I got an automated message stating my URL was being blocked! It was not until I later received an email from Quinn, that he explained that the charge was my monthly membership (I forgot to cancel my membership before it was due).
This is a hostile company and Quinn is a liar.”
“Email exchanges and my experience:
I did not sign up for FlexPass. I am NOT interested in paying a monthly fee to join your book club. I purchased one book for $7.95 and downloaded your free App from Apple’s App Store. If you charge me for anything other than that one book I will contest the charges with my credit card company as fraud.
Hi Steven,
That's actually not true at all and we've refunded your order and deleted your account permanently per your request. You obviously signed up just for the steep discount.
Sincerely,
Quinn
Customer Care Representative
Quinn,
Actually I just went to your site and though last night the “Regular Price” of $26.99 was crossed out, today it is not.
Nonetheless, your “FlexPass” price of $12.95, was and still is crossed out, however you do have a “new members” price of $7.95 listed as the cost for this book. I was a “new member”, which was not crossed out, so I purchased the audio book at not the crossed out “Regular Price” nor the “FlexPass” stated amounts, but at the listed and not crossed out “new members” price.
So the way you have this listed is either accidentally or intentionally displayed to fraudulently mislead someone to purchase not their first book for $7.95, but something that appears to be unavailable at that price, not saying anything about the cost of said membership and (plus) the price of the book?
I never asked to have my account deleted “permanently” or otherwise, only that I refused to pay for something that I, by reading the listed price on your website, I had not purchased. If you feel so strongly that customers have only you to purchase audio books from, continue to be rude whilst I look elsewhere.”
“After cancelling my membership, due to misunderstanding their payment system which I found confusing and misleading, I received two abusive messages, insinuating that I had purposefully mislead them, even though they have a 'cancel at any time' policy. I did not expect that from a business and I would not recommend. Reading the other reviews I will be phoning my bank to ensure they don't take any extra money out.”
“Initial offer for first book is misleading. I took up the offer for a discounted first book and was charged for subsequent months as a subscription. This is not clear when taking up the offer. When I queried the charges customer service response was at first scripted, then unprofessional. A Customer Care Representative, Quinn, accused me of fraud for saying I would pursue the refund through my credit card company and locked my account which had purchased audiobooks on it.
Would not recommend using this product as there are better, more reputable providers who do not use misleading marketing to trick customers.”
“Please beware! This company is a sham and you should not buy anything with them. Don’t even think about it. That book really isn’t worth it. They were charging my credit card for a year before I noticed the bill. When I tried to cancel, they made it extremely difficult and were verbally abusive to me in their correspondence. They were a nightmare to deal with and I ended up having spent over a hundred dollars on a single (cheap) audiobook. Their customer service isn’t just bad. It’s dishonest, manipulative, abusive, and it supports a company whose business model is really just theft.”
“I cancelled online in November 2018. Discovered today I've been charged for December January and February. They eliminated a phone number. Will continue to pursue. They cahrged me twice in November. Refused to refund. They are dishonest if one wants to ubsubscribe!! Buyer beware!!”
