Not happy, £80 to cancel an insurance policy is totally unacceptable. This is supposed to cover administration charges but there is no way the cost of administration for the cancellation of a policy would come anywhere neer that. Will never use again and would not recommend to anyone.

Hi Ben, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with all aspects of the service from Autonet. When a policy is purchased, it is a 12 month policy that takes into account the cost of setting up and administering the policy. If the policy is cancelled before the end of the 12 month term, charges are made to cover the overall costs incurred by Autonet. These are explained prior to the policy being purchased. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

They charged me an additional £20 for non-disclosure of 'an incident' although it was not a claim and nor was it my fault. The other driver ran into me and paid me cash. When I rang to complain, I was pleasant and polite yet the woman I spoke to was condescending and rude! AVOID!!!

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with all aspects of the service that you have received. When a policy is purchased online, customers need to ensure that all incidents are disclosed, including incidents, where no costs are paid out. This is because some of the insurers that we work with use this in their rating factors to determine the price. However, since reviewing your comments, we have listened to the call and passed feedback to the agent involved as we believe the service could have been improved on this occasion. Please accept our apologies for this. We will also consider the wording of the letter that was sent. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

Extremely disappointed with autonet . They have increased my insurance from the original figure by £700 overall. £400 for a non fault accident which I did not previously disclose (how does my insurance increase when I have been in a non fault accident?!) Secondly £300 for missing the day I passed my test by 3 months . Again I'm sure this is not a major issue considering I have been driving almost 8 years . They are money grabbing and spineless company which I will never use again

Hi Alex, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. When a policy is purchased online, it is important that all information is correct so that we can ensure that you are insured correctly. The premiums quoted are based on the information available at the time. If this information changes, such as additional claims being added on or changes to the date of your licence, the price offered may change. Although we do understand that it may be frustrating, some of the insurers that we work with may have increased premiums for none-fault accidents. We do ask customers to check all details before purchasing their insurance to check that the information is correct. Upon checking your notes on file, I can see that we can look to offer alternative quotations for you. If this is something that you would like us to do, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

I found auto insurance through go compare. They were the best price so I paid and and that was the end. Then I had an email asking for a licence code I have never heard of this before so assumed it was on the driving licence (which I had a sent in along with proof of no claims ) they wanted my partners also so I assumed this is where I went wrong. So I sent all off again ( via post ) as I’m quiet old fashioned and like to do things the way I no best . I got a further email explaining it was all wrong again and was sent a website of what was required. So I did this and once again printed it and sent it off. My policy was cancelled as they claimed they did not receive it before the policy date. I sent it 4 days before it was due to run out ( basically it was there word against mine that they had not received the paperwork I had sent off to them ). When I tried to argue they was not interested so not only had they cancelled my post they withheld £ 200 and I had to wait 10/7 working days for the rest of my money to go to my account ( as I had cancelled my policy with them) there fire in me resulting in having to go to another insurance company and paying on my credit card. Absolute rip off do not use this company.

Absolute Disgraceful Company. I bought the policy online via comparison site. Once I had paid after given true answers to questions I received email asking to contact them about an incident in 2013. This incident was not a claim, accident or anything relavant to warrant my policy being almost doubled in cost. I was asked to contact insurer in 2013, I did so and they confirmed that this incident should not affect the policy price. To cut a long story short, I cancelled the policy and I have been charged £75 for less than a days cover. These costs are not justified and I will be involving the financial Ombudsmen to dispute there actions. This company are most definitely not a reputable company and I will expose them for what they are!!! Dishonest Cowboys!!!!!

Outrages fees to make any changes, read the fine print. My suggestion is to avoid brokers at all costs and go direct!

Hi Neil, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and for your comments. Autonet are an insurance broker and work with various insurers. When a policy is purchased, we select the most competitive insurer from our panel based on the information available at the time. If there are any changes, such as a different vehicle, the insurer may make a change to the premium payable. In cases where the new premium from the existing insurer is too high, we can look at the prices from other insurers that we work with. If a policy is cancelled, we do make charges to cover the costs incurred to Autonet. These are explained before the policy is purchased. I can see that your policy is now cancelled, but if we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

20 days after renewal the insurance I took my vehicle was off the road for renovation. I asked to cancel the policy and told that was absolutely fine. I then received a bill for £226, this is also after paying £45 on the direct debit payment. This would mean that 20 days insurance was being charged a staggering £271. I was never told about the huge fees I would have to pay when I cancelled the policy. After calling the company I was told they would halve the fees, this I took to mean they would cut the extortionate bill from £226 down to to £113, I was wrong, that just meant you would take off a paltry £35 or so from your £79 cancellation fee. Still leaving me paying £187 + the £45 I had already paid. I could have no doubt changed the vehicle insurance to an off-the-road insurance but that was never suggested by your representative, even though I told them it would be off the road for about 4 months. I am absolutely horrified that you charge these fees. I know you will say that a large portion is from the finance company but you sanction such ludicrous charges. You are after all, their client and could demand they act responsibly! I will make sure that no one I know ever uses your services, sadly it will make very little difference to your business. Your actions though have made a hell of a lot of difference to my finances. I will now not be able to get my vehicle back on the road within the a sensible timescale. Thanks!

Not impressed so far. As a new customer I completed all the necessary details correctly. on line. Autonet made a mistake and "corrected" wrongly what was right in the 1st place. I then had to telephone to say Autonet had made a mistake by changing my details. The Autonet employee then made another mistake and argued with me as to when I passed my driving test...I should know and it is clearly stated on my driving licence AND it was years and years ago so made no difference. It was eventually agreed that he and Autonet were wrong, and had to be prompted to say sorry. Not a good start.

After an auto renewal, one month in we had to cancel the insurance because we got a new car and insuring the new car with autonet was much more expensive than other insurers. Autonet demanded that we pay £82.79 to cancel the contract. I don't care that it may be in the small print but this is unacceptable and I am a very unhappy customer.

Stear clear of Autonet Insurance. I recieved an email on 9/10/17 saying my policy had been cancelled that day. I contacted them to find out why my policy was cancelled as i had not cancelled it myself. I was told that i did not provide v5 documents and licence check codes. They said they had sent me emails asking for said documents and had also sent me a letter on 28/09/17 stating that if i did not provide the documents in 10 days my policy would be cancelled. After going back through my emails and mail i discovered that i had never recieved any emails or letters from autonet asking for those documents and i did not recieve a final reminder letter either. I had also already sent the licence check codes over the day i set the policy up in August 2017. When i tried to explain this on the phone they asked me to send the documents again and they would rectify the problem, only to be told after sending them in that i would have to start a whole new policy. I was then passed to sales and a new quote was done for me. I was told i would recieve a call the next day 10/10/17 at 10 am. I never recieved the phone call so contacted them myself. I was told that the undwerwriter had not accepted me for a policy and they would try another 6 lenders. I was kept on hold for 20 minutes before being told that 6 companies had not accepted me bacuase my first policy was camcelled. I have now had to fork out another deposit through another company just so i can get to work. I am very dissapointed with the service autonet provided and i am also appauled with the level of customer service i recieved. Noneof the staff were helpful in anyway and no one would admit they had made the mistake and would rectify it. I was basically made out to be a liar.

Today I have been sent 2 invitation letters to renew. Buildings: The rebuilding cost does not exceed £41564. I certainly did NOT provide this figure. I was furious. How can you rebuild a 3-bedroom semi with £41,564? Also I have a heavy duty metal safe, they say I put down NO. Now, I have to wait for the call. Stay away from this company. I am pretty sure Ian Donaldson, the CEO, knows how much HE can build with £41564!?? If I don't hear from them today, (was promised a phone call), I will email the ombudsman tonight and write to moneysavingexpert to ask for advice.

Took our insurance with this company as they were one of the cheapest I viewed with the lowest deposit. What they didn't tell me was they take the first payment 7 days later (in my case deposit £60 + first payment £55) but that I could have lived with. After having my policy 16 days (no paperwork arrived but apparently this wasn't there problem!!) I needed to update my car details... they quoted £1000 more than my original policy and wouldn't let me cancel without paying a further £59. I argued I had received no paperwork for dates etc to be within the 14 days (as cancellation is calculated 14 days from date of THERE paperwork) but after almost an hour on the phone being passed around I got nowhere. So my insurance cost in excess of £170 for 16 days insurance. Scam artists at ther best! Oh and not to mention the 5+ calls daily I was receiving from them and companies they passed my number on to! Avoid at all costs!

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with all aspects of the service that you have received from Autonet When a policy is purchased online, we explain the payment dates and amounts and we ask customer to tick a box to agree they understand when the direct debit payments will be collected. In terms of your documents, we are sorry to hear that you did not receive these. However, we have checked the email address on file and note that these were sent from our system and delivered on 28th August. We note that you wished to look at insuring an alternative vehicle, which did work out more expensive on this occasion, so you opted to cancel the policy. When a policy is taken out, it is a 12 month policy that includes the cost of setting up and administering the policy. If this policy is cancelled before the end of the 12 month term, charges are made to cover the costs incurred to Autonet. This includes costs that Autonet have to pay to the comparison websites for passing the business over to us. The cancellation charges are explained prior to the policy being purchased. In terms of the additional phone calls that you received, we note that we did contact you a number of times. Please accept our apologies for this. These phone calls came from Autonet. I will pass your feedback on to the relevant department about these calls. I can see that the policy is now cancelled, but if we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

Hi John, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the cancellation fees on your account. When a policy is purchased, it is important that all applicable information is given, so that the correct premium can be generated and to ensure that you are insured correctly. We note from your file that additional claims needed to be added, which generated an additional premium. We note that you then chose to cancel this policy, but if we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola
