Good structure to the lessons. Lots of time for reviewing the materials needed to pass the exam. Overall very good and you can go at your own pace.

Generally ok but much too much theoretical stuff. i.e. where can you find this ir that rule. Much mire important are the practical things on the water

As a 65 yr old I was a little concerned I would have difficulty handling the module testing process. Once started I found it to be very informative, easy to follow and at a comfortable pace. The module pre-test really helped me in the final exam process. I found the exam very straight forward and I had plenty of time to complete. If a "old timer" can do it all you young boaters can!! I really enjoyed taking the course and learned a lot about boating that I either forgot over the years or was not aware of. Enjoyed it being available 24/7 (well suited for all ages). Your open chat line came in very helpful and we're very curtious. Well put together BOATsmart!! Have to excuse me I have a fishing appointment!! Thanks

i found the course to be well presented and very appropriate. the one "negative" comment i have has nothing to do with the course as such but rather to do with the rules governing lateral system navigation or more precisely the system of colours of buoys and their placement in channels. It can be somewhat confusing to learn that one must turn to starboard when encountering another vessel in a head on approach (keeping his red light to the port side)....and then having to rethink and turn left or to port when encountering a red buoy in a channel keeping the starboard side to the red buoy....i think that someone should of thought of that in the beginning when establishing the rules....of course this is only my opinion but as the late great Chet Atkins once said "its only my opinion....and it ought to be yours".

Very comprehensive and a good informative study, the only downside/disappointment I had was when I did get a wrong answer I didn't know which one was wrong. When I called chat I was told to look up the one(s) that I was unsure of. Well that's great but I was sure that I had all the answers correct so what do I look up ? I hope the wrong answer was not a critical one that will come and bite me later. Sincerely, Jim Stenko

Hi. Well, it was more work than I thought, but I am a 71 year old Grandma, and I wanted to show my son and three grandson's that I could do it. But, I can't believe what you have to learn and how things have changed since I was young. I enjoyed learning all about boating and lights and buoys, so nobody can pull the wool over my eyes if they say.."No. It's ok Grandma, we can do this". It has made me more aware on the waterways; even when I watch the local or provincial news! I say to myself..."I knew that." Now, I cannot forget to thank the staff at Boatsmart. In the beginning I had to call about 4 times with questions, and they were so friendly and helpful and made me feel better about myself and even though I misunderstood some things, they never made me feel foolish. So, keep up the excellent work and Thank you so much. V. Filby.

The course it self was easy to follow and manuver through. I just wish the government or powers that be, who decide what you need to know, would spend more time on actual boating or pwc "on the water" info, instead of when the laws were written or whats the name of the place that you send paperwork to. A person taking the test, should only be asked questions about being safe! Drive home the point of wearing your life jacket!! not when a law went into afect that will not help when your in the water!

The course was great and easy to understand. It would be nice if they provided a laminated reference sheet for some of the things (like buoys) to keep in boat. A few words were misspelled in the training so may want to have someone proof the content. It was nice to be able to take it from my home, however, it is a very long course.

course was very detailed, easy to follow and self explanatory. one criticism on the tests for each module, no feed back as to what if any questions were wrong. Otherwise good value for the money.

This is a great learning tool, but I found it annoying that I had to wait through the minimum duration of a few topics that I already knew about. Overall though, I would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking to get their PCOC.
