“Very surprising. More difficult than I expected but worth the effort. Definitely left me feeling much more knowlegable/taught topics I never considered a part of boat safety before. Well designed Web site. Easy to navigate. Recognized by Canadian Government. Left me feeling confident about boat safety & credibility of Certification.”

“too many short videos and doesn't really keep your attention makes it hard to retain the information learned but does cover most important laws and regulations and gets you your boat license”

“Good layout. One thing I was wondering is it would have been nice to se what questions I got wrong so I could have corrected them . Maybe after the test a list .”

“It was very time consuming but overall I went from really not understanding how to navigate the waters ways to understanding the procedures and laws that go with it. Despite it being time consuming the information you gain is very beneficial.”

“The Boatsmart program is very comprehensive and covers all of the right bases. However, the mandatory timers are awful and make the process take an excessively long time for information that is not that complicated. I suggest either reducing the mandatory time on each module or remove the timer altogether so that the program can be completed within a reasonable amount of time.”

Hi Graham - Thanks for taking the time to provide a review. At this time, we are unable to change the length of the course as the 3-hour timer is required in Canada by Transport Canada, and required in the U.S. by NASBLA. We understand this may be frustrating for students, however, please understand that the 3-hour timer ensures that all students are able to fully understand all of the course content. Every course provider must meet this requirement and in order to be able to take the course online, from the comfort of home, students must spend 3 hours in the course. Thanks for hanging in there - your 3 hours of studying will get you a lifetime of safe boating fun!

“You should make it very clear to those people that purchase a handbook that they will be required to read the material a second time before they will be allowed to take the test. I spent a lot of wasted time studying and highlighting only to find out I had to do it all over again.”

“Easy to understand instructions due to the videos and the written .. The quizzes are extremely helpful. I wsh that there would be a way to review the questions so that you could find out which answers were answered correct and which were not.”

“Great program, while a bit long, it covers all the needs of anyone looking to get their PCOC! The videos are comprehensive and go into expert detail about the rules and regulations for any new boater. The one area for improvement may be having an appendix section which is easily accessible and searchable that has the regulations information in a written format for reviewing before testing.”

“I like the website. Good layout. Good end user experience.. I'm not a fan of the law which requires canadians to ask permission before using their own property. I know its for safety... But I'm more a libertarian. I don't think safety should be legislated. Good website though. It works very well, and I appreciated not having to go into a government office. My card arrived pretty quickly too, which was also nice.”

“I thought having to rewatch the moduals was HORRIBLE, getting 2 questions incorrect should not make you rewatch 1hour of videos, it should be optional”

“I really enjoyed doing the course. It was very informative and I feel confident driving our jetski on a lake. The only thing I would have liked to see is that when you do the quizzes and get something wrong, it would be nice if the correct answer came up so people would know where they went wrong and learn the right answer.”
