“I was looking for R53 Mini Cooper S on Craigslist. There were many enticing offers, with "low mileage", "full service records", and "extras". When I narrowed down my search, using some CARFAX reports I'd found some interesting discoveries about my "favorites": a) "low mileage" on a car can mean that a car was in a crash, then put away b) "new parts" on a car can mean that a car was in a crash, then put away c) "runs great, full service" can mean: yeah it looks alright, but I've only had it for a month, guaranteed service records as far back as I know (~ 2-3 months)... With the help of the reports I was bale to not only separate the cream from the crop, but also negotiate a great price for a car that I really enjoy. Well worth the membership, Thanks CARFAX!”

“I was going to trade my 2005 pontiac for a 2004 cadillac. The cadillac looked great but upon asking the dealer for a carfax he scoffed at me, once receiving the carfax I saw the car wasn't just totaled out once, but was rebuilt and totaled out a total of 3 times. And the carfax report valued the cadillac at $2800, which he was asking $7,900 for. Needless to say carfax might have saved my life.”

“We were looking to purchase an Acura TL for our son. We had narrowed our search to three Acura TL's. After looking at all three my son wanted us to purchase the black one because he really liked black. All three cars were similar in price, condition, and milage. The only real difference was color. Although we had a good feeling about the three choices we decided to get a CarFax report on each of the cars. The results were shocking. The black Acura TL had been reported as a total loss in an accident. The other two came back clean. However, the owner if the Acura we actually purchased as been very up front with some information about the car that was confirmed by the CarFax report. We are very happy with a vehicle purchase and thankful that the CarFax saved us from purchasing a car that would have placed my son's safety at risk. We will always get a CarFax when purchasing a used vehicle. Ken Roberts”

“I was looking for a good, safe car for my teenagers to share. I was ready to buy on three occasions, Honda Civics, that I thought were being advertised "honestly". After doing a CarFax each time, I was disappointed to find the cars had a Rebuilt Title attached to them. I finally was able to buy an excellent used car that I can put my children in with peace of mind, knowing they will be safe, and not a potential lemon with unforeseen problems. “I was looking to buy a car not more than 8 years old. I had narrowed my search down to 4 cars, and the CARFAX reports helped me understand how the car had been maintained by showing me the dealer records for what had been done to the cars. I chose the car that had the best record for being maintained by a reliable dealer.”

“We were dead set on a 2013 Nissan Cube and just prior to going to the bank to withdraw the cash I saw an ad for Carfax and remembered I had not done that yet. We got the Vin # and it was reported as a lemon and had been sold 3 times prior. So we waited a day, and found a 2011 Cube with less miles, one owner, and a clean title! So happy we saw the TV ad, I truly feel it saved us serious money and head aches. Thank you Carfax.”

“I checked carfax on a used Civic and didn't see anything too alarming. Bought the car, took it to the shop... turns out it had a completely different engine in the car! 2004 engine in a 2002 body.”

“I was all set to buy a 2010 Honda Accord, the miles on the odometer seemed low, too low to be honest. Long story short, the miles on the car were not correct and using car fax I was able to get the correct amount of miles the car had as last serviced. Thanks Car Fax, saved me from a lemon!”

“I was purchasing a modded 02 ws6 trans am was concerned about what has been done to the moter and if it was drag raced. Bought carfax and called the dealers the car was taken too and found the owner who modded the car and found out everything that has been done to the car and found out it had nos ran threw it. Purchased the car only because the owner prior to the owner I bought it from had lots of knowledge on what the car has been through best car I've owned!”

“I attempted to purchase two different vehicles. However, when I checked the VIN on the first one I found the mileage to be off by over 75,000 miles! The second vehicle I was told was a two owner car that had no major damage in the past. When I checked the VIN it showed up with 10 owners and a salvage title. CARFAX saved me from making a BIG mistake....TWICE. Thanks CARFAX. In the end the car I did by checked out with a clean report.”

“I was rearended in my favorite car on a Friday. It was totaled out on Monday and the rental was mine on Tuesday. I ordered two 5 report deals from carfax. I thought two of the cars I saw on carfax were great. I got there and thanks to carfax mileage info, I was able to question the dealer as to why there was 40k difference on EACH vehicles mileage from just a few months ago. Needless to say, I didn't buy those. One vehicle had a clean carfax, high mileage but thanks to the report, I could tell that it was dealer maintained and in great working order. I test drove the truck, and that's the one I bought. I even used one of my other remaining reports for a friend. He found out that the guy "selling" the car was not only NOT the owner, but there was a major wreck that he didn't disclose. Thank you carfax!”

“I was abroad when I paid for a CARFAX report on a vehicle I bought and was not able to view it until sometime later when I returned to the computer world only to find that it had already been deleted by them. I should have donated these funds to charity. It would have been better spent.”
