Car Fax only had 1 entry for this car, that was mileage at 79,900 miles, nothing as to when or where it was purchased, what state or any service records. This is all I received for my $40.00. Not worth the cost.

The Carfax helped tremendously with our decision to purchase my car. Found it online in California. It was shipped to my home in Florida and with maintenance and tender loving care, it's rolled over the 100,000 mile mark and still going strong! Having a trusted company rating like Carfax is the BEST! Tallahassee, Florida

I found Carfax to be a waste of money and a waste of time. I learned absolutely nothing from Carfax.

I looked for a car for a couple of months before realizing that most people looking to sell their cars are not being honest about their cars. At this point I bought the 5 carfax package and resumed my search. Found two "clean, no accident" cars, checked the carfax to see accidents. Found another "one owner" car that turned out to have 5 previous owners. On the fourth carfax, I finally found the one. Clean, one owner with maintenance records. Buying the carfax was the best 50 bucks I ever spent! Karla D.

It did a ok job of getting a cars history. There weren't any surprises but I was surprised in the differences of the reports that the dealer ran and the personal reports

I was looking at 2 different cars both were Honda Civic CRX. Carfax had one of the vehicles at $1225.00 above average retail, not bad for a 26 year old car. The other vehicle showed it had been driven an excessive amount of miles in the past year. Not hard to decide which one I picked. thanks Car Fox.

I was looking at a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse which I found on Craigslist. The information presented was enticing and the images looked good. The price was good too. I made an appointment to inspect the car. The owner disclosed a minor repair which resulted in the new paint job but had no other informpurchased the vehicle recently for resale. I went home and checked the CARFAX report. It disclosed multiple

The searching was great and the original information was very help full in finding the right truck. How ever this is where the story takes a turn for the worse. I have an extended warranty and after making a claim to the warranty companey The denied my claim saying Carfax shows a branded title, (odometer exceeds mechanical limits). I contacted Carfax and was advised after a very long delay that it would stay on the report until "I" fixed the issue with CA department of motor vehicles (DMV). The branded title did not show up until after I purchased the vehicle and I did not send anything to DMV saying the odometer exceeds mechanical limits. After e-mailing a rep. from Carfax and pointing out that the vehicle in question has a 6 digit odometer and if it had "rolled over then the truck would have over 1 million miles on it. Yes according to Carfax I'm driving a truck with over 1 million miles, 1,000,000 miles! The disclaimer on the report says the branded title for exceeds mechanical limits is for when vehicles with a 5 digit odometer has gone past 100,000 miles. So at 99,999 then it turns back to 00,000 and starts over. I pointed this out to the rep from Carfax and they did not care! It even says it may be a clerical error but when a request is made to fix it they refused. The report says to lower the value of the vehicle because of the miles/ branded title. So now thanks to a report that they will not change, I'm stuck paying for a repair that would have been covered under my warranty and a vehicle that is worth less if you believe the truck has over 1 million miles. A little common sense can go a long way. Carfax offers a good service but it is not gospel. Look and see if the vehicle has been in a major crash or has open recalls, ect..... So do not believe everything you read on the report. Mistakes can be made.

I was looking at buying a car, and it seemed to good to be true, I liked at the Carfax, and it turns out they it wasn't, I have a 2008 Mazda 6 that runs amazing, no problems, not too mention it came with the Carfax warranty. This is the best decision in car purchasing I have ever made, but I wasn't able to decide until I saw the Carfax. They are easily the best decision when purchasing a used car.

Found out how little maintenance was done with a Carfax report, and then found out the owner also had no records of maintenance , which was a clue as to future cost and probable potential problems. Mystery with clues! Thank you Carfax

I recently came across a posting for a used car for sale at my place if employment. I was looking for a car for my daughter, who is a newly licensed driver. I contacted the seller, questioned them about the car, and was told that they were the second owner of the car, it was in EXCELLENT condition, and it has been well cared for. I took my daughter to check out the car, and noticed that it has some overspray of paint, and some other questionable marks on the car. We jotted down the VIN number, took it home and ran a Carfax and discovered that the car was a salvaged vehicle and they were the 3rd owner of the vehicle! Our search continued....... We found another vehicle, ran a Carfax, and it was the PERFECT car for my daughter! THANK YOU, Carfax, from a VERY grateful momma of a teenaged driver!! * side note*...... I was recently involved in a minor accident, my car sustaining some rear end damage. When my daughter found out about the accident, the first words out of her mouth ( after I reassured her that I was fine, and the car was fixable) were " There goes your clean Carfax mom"! Gotta love her!! Thanks again, for empowering car buyers in a market that can be filled with deception!

We were looking at a car (which we did not end up buying - but for other reasons) that had a branded title due to inaccurate mileage. By reviewing the Car Fax report, and the various entries, we were able to piece together the tale of the vehicle's mileage and were fairly certain that the error was most likely a type-o at the BMV. It gave us a good confidence level high enough to allow us to make an offer on the car. Absent the Car Fax report we would have walked away. Thank you Car Fax.

I was importing a U.S. vehicle to Canada half way across the continent and Carfax provided me with the history and an added level of security that the purchase would be one I would not regret.

I struggled to find a good used car in my area, through he internet. We were new the area and didn't have a reliable relationship with any car dealers. We began the internet search and on two of the vehicles we were looking we found, through car fax, undisclosed issues ( an accident and a recall). the dealer didn't know because they weren't told and they didn't check. Saved me from getting something I didn't want or need. I then began searching the internet again and never went any further with my search unless I found a clean bill of health with car fax. I did and the car is great--I am very pleased and very happy!!!

I was purchashing a used private vechile that was in very good condition so it appeared with a shinny body that looks sharp and drove well! It was a 2008 Civic sedan that was only with the latest owner for 3 months and was selling supposivly for his wife's medical reasons that she wouldn't be able to drive! There were no plates on the vechicle so I used my mechanics plates for he could take a look. He looked vey carefully at the body work with its shinny blue exterior and could just make out inside the hood it had a respray! There us something not right here he said. I followed through by getting the sellers/buyers package at the MTO that reviled it had 8 prievious owners and one of which was an insurance broker ! I was told to go online and purchase a report from carfax I hadn't heard of them before but was so glad I paid my few as it revieled it had been in 2 collisions one major damaged in the front centre of the vechile back in January of this year at a cost of $11,500! There I did not purchase this car!

Thanks to CarFax, I was able to discover that the BMW I was considering for purchase through a private sale had been involved in two accidents, fortunately none serious enough to derail the deal, and a transmission replacement that the seller had not disclosed. The Seller produced the receipts from the repairs and all is well. Kudos to CarFax! Love the CarFox!
