A few weeks ago I had decided to buy a 2010 Audi TT. I was determined to have this car and had them ship it from a dealership in Texas to one in Colorado. While the vehicle was enroute to Colorado I decided to order a CARFAX report and am so glad I did. The report was very detailed and identified the vehicle as having a possible odometer rollback which explained the unusually low mileage. This was documented through service records where the mileage was captured over time. Needless to say I decided against purchasing the vehicle. That would have been a $35,000 mistake. Lesson learned, I will never buy a vehicle without first running a CARFAX report! Thank you CARFAX! Erik R.

My wife and I need a second car to make trips to Illinois to visit our sisters who have Muscular Dystrophy. We were looking for a Ford Escape within our price range, but have had no luck finding one. So, we looked at a Kia, which was for sale by an individual. It has 63,000 miles on it, and is very clean. The owner told us he bought it from an elderly lady in Grain Valley, Missouri, and that he thought she was the only owner of it. He bought the car a mere three months prior to us looking at it. We drove it and found it to be a bit tight as far as arm room, but it drove quite nicely. The owner said he had put almost $1,800.00 in repairs in it, and new tires on the car. He refused to look my wife in the eye anytime she asked him questions. She got suspicious of what he was telling us, so we came home and did a Carfax on the car. She was right about her intuitions. The car, at 63,000 miles had had SIX OWNERS! We still need a vehicle to make trips to and from Illinois so we can help care for our sisters, but are reluctant to move forward with a purchase due to not trusting a dealer or individual after our experience with the owner of the Kia. What is so wrong with the Kia, that at 63,000 miles has had SIX owners? Are there trustworthy people to do business with when it comes to the purchase of a GOOD, low mileage vehicle? Carfax kept us from making a HUGE mistake. Thank you, for the job you do helping the consumer!! :)

The company I bought from uses Autochex but it does not have the reputation that I feel CarFax does and I did not feel right about the purchase till I made sure all was right through CarFax. The description was superior and more involved through CarFax.

I was going to buy a 2005 Dodge Ram, but when I checked the carfax I learned that it didn't have the 100,000 miles as advertised it had over 200,000 miles and the owner had rolled back the odometer! So I'm glad I checked Carfax it saved me a lot of money!

I was searching craigslist for a used Mazda Mx-5. Being that they are, by nature, a car-tinkerer's wet dream, and craigslist is a minefield of garbage, I needed some form of vehicle history reports. I bought one report initially, and the news was good.. Until the person I was looking to buy from sold the car as I was on my way to go buy it. I went back on the hunt and equipped myself with the unlimited reports package (ALWAYS GET THE UNLIMITED PACKAGE). After slogging through a dozen or so miata carfaxes that had problems I wouldn't have otherwise known, I finally found one that seemed to be worth a look. I went to go look at it, and decided I needed to buy it. Carfax showing that NONE of the maintenance had been reported saved me the money I spent on reports and then some. Thank you carfax!

I was looking for Mercedes convertibles and found 2005 CLK 500 200 miles away in Buffalo NY with 14000 miles. It checked out with clean CARFAX no accidents and service records were shown. It was nearly perfect as new when I looked at it so I bought it on the spot and drove it back home 200 miles. Bradley B.

I live in Western Kentucky, was searching to purchase my first BMW. To me, it was a sizable investment. Wanted to purchase a used 2012. Could not find what I wanted in our area. Traveled to visit family in Scottsdale Az. Just happen to go by BMW dealership. Found just what I had been looking for. Low mileage priced right, but did not know anything about the cars past history. Got a CARFAX on the car. Found out it was just what I wanted. Made an offer, now I am enjoying my BMW with a huge smile. Without my CARFAX I would not have purchased a car so far away from my home. Iris Michel

Excellent site. Was looking at a bunch of cars from private sellers. Carfax helped me uncover history and in a few cases save much on hidden costs associated with previous accidents/repairs. The history was concise and complete.

Being a student it was very hard for me to get around town and run errands. So i decided to look for car to buy. After looking for a really long time and being extremely difficult to know if i am making a right investing on a right vehicle, a decided to go with carfax after seeing it online and other advertisements. I decided to apply for a carfax purchase and started to check a few of the cars that i had liked a lot. Thanks to carfax, the car that i had the most interest in and was ready to buy was not a good choice. After running the VIN number i found out that the car had not been serviced in a a timely manner and worst of all it was involved in two major accidents which brought the value of the car very low. I like that carfax gave me a value amount below that of the original value. I decided to pass on that vehicle and insted found another car that was extremely well taken care of with all the records listed and it was a one owner vehicle. Thanks to carfax i own a very good vehicle and made a right choice in making such a high investment.

I loved how user friendly and how fast the report was pulled. This system is fantastic and even corrects you if the VIN number was entered incorrectly.

CarFax helped me verify my recent purchase on a Chevy Silverado. I got to make sure the seller's story about the vehicle being stolen was true or not. I was able to call in on the results of the CarFax and make sure his dates and details aligned. Thanks for the great service !

I was at a place called Martin Preowned Auto in Whitman MA on April 21st 2014. I asked the owner for a carfax on the 2011 Kia Soul I wanted and she proceeded to print something called AutoCheck. Come to find out, after promises of the car being clear of any problems, Maureen Foley printed only the "Cover Page". It was later that evening after purchasing this vehicle for approx $12,000that I had a bad feeling. I paid for and got a CarFax for myself and I found out everything I thought I knew and everything she promised to be untrue. In fact, the car was recalled for brake lamps, sold to auction 1 month later, meaning the recall was never fixed when she sold it to me. On the lot at auction it then sat for one year contributing to "lot rot". carfax showed the car drove only 1000 in one year. The rotors were rotted and could not pass inspection. It also showed she lied about the car "not ever" being in an accident. It was in an accident. I appreciated carfax so much. It was my error not getting or insisting on a thorough report before purchase. I was comforted actually seeing and having the evidence of what really happened with my Kia, and because of that she was forced to cover the cost of the brakes and inspection. Carfax can't fix dishonest people, but it surely gave me what I needed.
