“We were super excited about this bed (Hudson Poplar) based on the reviews and things we'd read online. First off, due to shipping, some of the pieces of the bed had splinters/chunks knocked out. No major aesthetic defects but enough that they were slightly damaged. We had very significant issues putting it together, which drastically affected my view of the product. Although the bed is made from poplar - a softer wood - it was nearly impossible to put the head/footboard together with the screws provided. The holes are not pre-drilled at all, and even pushing as hard as I possibly could with a corded power drill (and I'm a big dude), we stripped the screws completely, sending metal shavings everywhere. We managed to get most of them within 1cm of fully inserted, but it's definitely not as secure as it should be. This was super frustrating. Carolina leg co. called me after I submitted a service inquiry, but they weren't very helpful on the phone, only offering to send more screws, which really wouldn't help. Additionally, some of the slats nearly didn't fit the bed, and we had to bang them in with a mallet. Already worried about getting them out when we move. The bed definitely looks fine now, but I worry about its long-term stability and durability given the assembly process. Overall I wouldn't buy the bed again.”
“Where to start...I ordered these after looking at several different websites, and liked the styles and prices they offered. I opened the box and was immediately noticed the weight and what seemed like quality materials. They were wrapped incredibly well, which made the quality seem even better. That's where the excitement ended. I pulled the legs out, and right away noticed the sloppy welds around the seams, and the powder coat right over top. They weren't grinded down, and in my opinion totally ruined my opinion of them. There were also areas that weren't powder coated. Granted these were areas that wouldn't be seen unless you looked underneath, but it still seemed like an oversight. The only reason I kept them was because the project was my own for a desk in my house. I would never purchase these and expect a customer to be ok with the product. I'm torn because other websites charge $200 per leg, and some cheaper. But at the price point I paid I just felt like the finish quality could be better. Please see the pics and make your own judgments.”
“I love the shape of the leg that I bought but honestly was hoping for better quality. The seams are super noticeable. They don’t blend together at all. Also, I wasn’t super impressed by the smoothness. I found myself having to hand sand with a finer grit. I could see how these would work perfectly fine for painting (although I still would’ve sanded them down more) but the result with stain is mediocre at best.”
