About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“I was extremely impressed with the service and product I received from Chilton. The piece of furniture (a bookshelf) was ready in a couple weeks, significantly less than expected. “Chilton Furniture offers an abundance of distinctive hand-crafted furniture designs for whatever one is looking for. Coupled with the fact that we live out-of-state and hadn't been to one of Chilton's three showrooms, it took us awhile to choose our new bed frame. Eventually, we settled on the handsome "Sunday River" model in all cherry; it was well worth the wait! The lengthy selection process, final purchase, and "white-glove" installation went extremely smoothly in large part due to Eleanor Soule's infinite patience with our detailed questions and her thoughtful and knowledgeable support from beginning to end. Our new bed frame is now attractively in place and we look forward to enjoying it for many years to come!”

“Our experience purchasing three cherry wood side tables was positive from the first telephone inquiry to picking up one table in Freeport and two in Scarborough. All the employees we communicated with were helpful and accommodating--even when we changed our minds twice about ordering the tables with or without shelves.”

“Adam was a pleasure to deal in placing the order and also in follow-up responses to my questions. Furniture arrived earlier than promised, delivery was a breeze and while we've only had it for a couple of weeks, I can say that the intital build quality (of the recliner) is impressive.”

“We are thrilled with how great our Chilton furniture looks in our new home. There is something about high-quality wood furniture that allows it to softly make bold statements, and our Chilton kitchen table, bedroom set and all the chairs do just that. Plus, Chilton's service has been outstanding, including replacing a table that had a material defect. Within two days, Bobby and Adam were at our home to quickly make the swap, and we couldn't be happier. Highly recommend!”

“I purchased a cherry wood desk for my husband and it is absolutely beautiful. The delivery man brought it to us in Florida safe and sound after navigating horrible weather conditions. His good cheer and professionalism was much appreciated. I will definitely be a return customer.”

“Ordered a custom Walnut Shaker Heirloom Dining Table for our new home. Pleasantly surprised when Wanda called to say table was ready for delivery a month earlier than expected. Delivery by Bobby and Alex went smoothly. The walnut table looks fantastic with our white oak banquette. Thanks to Chilton showroom folks for pointing me in this direction.”

“I'm not happy with how fragile the assembly of the bed is. The rail latches on the headboard and footboard so quickly come apart during assembly that I'm afraid the bed will not be sturdy. Honestly, the bed needs some bolt hardware for a more sturdy construction. I've been trying for an hour to put my new bed together and every time I go to assemble an opposite corner, the bed falls apart. I'm regretting my purchase already having spent a lot of money on a solid wood king bed. Our other queen beds from Ethan Allen and Stickley are substantially better constructed for similar investments.”
