I purchased a Victor cordless mower from Coopers on line, received it in short order and was very satisfied. Then the spot weld on the lower blade failed and needed fixing. Coopers insisted that it be returned and it would be replaced, all I wanted was to take a quick trip down to the local garage where it could have been fixed in a couple of minutes. They insisted on having it back and arranged for collection. They used a bunch of moronic incompetents none of whom speak a word of English called YODEL-watch out for this bunch!! I stayed in all day last Friday until about 4:45pm, when I had to go out for milk and toilet rolls to the local shops. I was out for 10 mins tops, and guess what-yes note in the door and sms on my 'phone saying they couldn't collect. I had arranged with Coopers that in the event of no reply, they could open a gate and retrieve the mower from the back garden under a tarpaulin-still there of course. I called Coopers and relayed the events, to yet another person there, making 3 people in total involved there. They said nothing could be done and they would call again and would I stay in all day Monday? I once again asked if they can send an SMS to say they failed to collect, why not call or SMS me 15 mins or so before they call? Oh no, they won't do that was the reply. Why not I asked. Because they are another company and they have no control. Yes you do says I, you pay them. No answer. I reluctantly agreed and now, at 7:25pm Monday after staying in all day, they finally turned up. Great service, I'm still awaiting a refund. Tony. vidtek99@gmail.com

They took £20 more than the value of the order from my card. I luckily noticed this but so far, 3 days after being informed, they have failed to refund my money. Avoid like the plague unless you want to be ripped off

On the 4th Sept at about 1630 Hrs. I ordered The Hedge Runner by phone. I was told by a very helpful young lady that it would be delivered within 28 days. Friday the 5th Sept at about 1100 hrs the item was delivered to my doorstep. How's that for service? EXEMPLARY I would say. Thank you Coopers.

Coopers of Stortford make out to be a traditional family-run company with "traditional style, value and great ideas". Unfortunately their approach to customer service is rather too traditional and outdated, as I will explain below. I ordered a portable car battery charger and while I would love to be able to review it, I had to cancel the order as they seemed to show no interest in actually sending it to me. Initially after ordering, you are told that "whilst we aim to despatch your goods within 7 days please allow up to 28 days for delivery". Now in the old days of mail-order, this was probably acceptable, but I assumed that this was just going to be one of those things that online companies say but actually dispatch quite quickly so that you are in the mercy of the delivery company. Not so with Coopers of Stortford. You definitely need to allow 28 days for delivery. I waited a few days after ordering but didn't hear anything so I thought that I would send a friendly email to try find out when it would be dispatched. This is when I had the pleasure to experience the Coopers of Stortford "Customer Services" team. At first, I was told that the item was "in stock, being processed for despatch as soon as possible." This seemed very vague to me so I pushed further on the dispatch date. This time I was told that "the order should be despatched this week." This was on a Monday so I felt that this was even more vague and I pushed further, this time to be told that it "has been allocated and will be packed for despatch shortly". I tried one more time, and this time told that "we are unable to provide and exact date for despatch as every order we have come through is different ... your order is due to be despatched this week." I have no idea what that is supposed to mean at all so I cancelled the order. By this time it was a week since the order was placed. Oh, and each time I contacted them it was dealt with by a different person so no consistent point of contact. I can understand that in the mid 90s this was probably acceptable. The order was received by mail and packaged when possible. In the world on online selling however, this is no longer an acceptable way to do business. This was an order of just one item. If it is in stock then dispatch it already! If there is some other reason why it cannot be dispatched then please let me know. I actually didn't mind waiting if there was a reasonable explanation to why it was not being dispatched, but I still have no idea (except that "every order is different"! what?) So to conclude, I'm sure that the product may have been great had it actually been dispatched. Unfortunately I will never know. Their approach to "customer services" really has left me unable to recommend the company at all. tl;dr: If you are prepared to wait a long time for your order and are prepared to deal with terrible customer service if something goes wrong then by all means give them a go. If not, then avoid!

2nd lot of panels for my toilet organiser arrived, first ones damaged half assembled the unit ( took us a while pensioners) found marks on one new panel and other black marks and bit of the corner missing on the other. Tried to email them and send pictures the email address wasn't recognised. Couldn't be bothered ringing again as they tell u they will get back to u within 48 hrs. They didn't, they just sent these new panels. Never will I use this Company again

Shoe cupboard. I don't know why I ordered this as I knew it would probably poor quality and it is. I'm pretty handy with a screwdriver but the instructions are woefully inadequate. Package left on the doorstep as we were out, I wished someone had stolen it and save me 2 hours trying to understand how the thing goes together

Ordered a Garden Storage Box on the 13th July 2014. It is now the 25th August and I have still not received it. No reaction from Coopers to my review which stated the situation. They state that "Your review is awaiting approval." When I log into their website it states that the order is 'completed'. Yodel tracking states that '. . .it appears you parcel has been delayed ..' . Rubbish company, rubbish courier.

I waited 2 weeks to receive "in stock" items. I rang and was told the parcel was with the carriers. After a wait of a further week I have been told the carrier has lost the parcel. I was offered the option of re-ordering or a refund. As a speedy delivery service is not available I chose the latter and ordered from another supplier. The Customer Service advisers I spoke with seemed totally indifferent to my complaint (possibly because they are used to dealing with similar situations). However, I did receive my refund immediately hence one star, otherwise I would have found it difficult to award any.

Very poor quality products and they use Yodel, so you may never get your stuff at all. Their website also forces you to create an account, the details from which they use to spam you relentlessly. Avoid at all costs.

This company claims Value for money. Rubbish. Purchased a Dash Cam for £29.95. What arrived was a very cheap Chinese piece of low quality rubbish. This item is being sold on e/Bay for less than £10, postage free by many trade outlets. That 200% dearer. Returned at a cost of £7.50. Trading Standards and Watchdog have been notified. SO NEXT TIME YOU RECEIVE A COOPERS CATOLOGE FROM THIS COMPANY, BEST YOU BIN IT. Still waiting for my refund.

Purchased a Half Step (D561). Catalogue states it supports 23 stone. I weigh 16 and a half. Step is in pieces after less than a year. Base is cracked in several places and top has come off. Also Coopers, will you please stop using the 99p racket, and round prices off to the nearest pound. You should be more upmarket than this.

Purchased some lawn edging from the catalogues did not realise that they were only made from the flimsiest of plastic. Looking at the pictures on their sales blurb you would think it would be up to the job. Very disappointed with this product, we have a heavy clay soil and these are just not up to the job. Purchased 3 boxes of them for heavens sake! Won't bother to return them, having read other reviews I'd probably be wasting my time. Have had previous disappointment with other purchases. In future I'll only buy what I can actually see.

Have been waiting for a reply to my refund for goods returned. Coopers sent me a e-mail saying they received my return on the 24-06-2014 but still no refund. Will not be doing any more shopping with Coopers. They take your money and do not want to know if things go wrong. Maurice King

I have found this company only uses good reviews on products. The reviews I have sent have only been used on the first item I purchased as this was excellant. The next two items I gave bad reviews and guess what - they were not used. I have informed them of this but am still waiting for a reply. Needless to say I shall not be using them again.

Coopers of Stortford. Love this company. Customer service second to none. You get what you pay for and everything I have ordered has been acceptable apart from one damaged item which was replaced in days (to the Isle of Man). I contact by email and get an immediate response. Cant fault them. Happy customer.

Door fly screen and plastic lawn edging quality almost laughable.Would only get away with selling this rubbish online as anyone seeing it in store would dismiss without hesitation. To add insult to injury you have to pay postage to return what a joke.
