“Good things:
- perfect location for most sights and amenities
- amazing views from the flat
- very well equipped, stylish design and spacious living area
Bad things:
- the window blinds let nearly all light through, so hard to sleep past 6am; also, the flat gets very hot unless all windows wide open
- with windows wide open it gets very noisy; supermarket delivery van from 7am every day, also noise from nearby building site”
“Spacious lovely flat in great location with all the mod cons. We've been travelling the UK and this was one of the best places we've stayed in! The bed was really comfortable. Highly recommended!”
“We stayed at this 1 bed flat in early May '13. Initially we thought it was further from the centre than we wanted but in fact you can walk to Princes St in 20 minutes and the buses in nearby South Clerk St are very plentiful. You can also easily walk to Tollcross through the pleasant Meadows in about 20-30 minutes. The flat is on the 3rd floor but not a difficult climb at all for an able-bodied person. The views of Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags from the living room are spectacular and make you want to get out and climb 'em. Actually the walk to the very top takes about 30 minutes, well worth it as you get a 360 deg view of Edinburgh and even on a dull day you can see Fife and East Lothian easily. Gillian and Alistair have done everything (and more) to make visitors welcome and the attention to detail is fantastic. We shall be back!”
“Stayed here for 3 nights with friends in December 2013. First impressions of the area was a bit cagey and I spotted a clinic a few doors down form the flat which usually attracts a lot of junkies to the area. This didn't appear to be the case though. The stairs up to the flat are quite thin and windy too. Everything got better once we got inside though. It holds heat very well, the decor was lovely and the bed was the most comfortable bed in the world. Made me not want to get out of it :) We were warmly greeted by Harriet and proceeded to have a great few days in Edinburgh. I was a bit disappointed when we were leaving as nobody showed up to collect the keys, or instruct us what to do. I even sent a text message to them in the morning and have still gotten no reply. So there was a lot of waiting around that morning which was annoying, in the end we just guessed to leave the keys on the counter, however this obviously meant we couldn't securely lock the door. Had a bit of a "we have your money now go away" feel to the check out process.”
“Very comfortable flat, within a short walk of Princes Street, Water of Leith, Botanic Gardens, Inverleith Park and [most importantly] Franco's Carry Out [wonderful haggis suppers]. We would have no hesitation in staying here again on a future visit.”
“A simple, well-maintained flat that is perfect for getting to the main large fringe venues. Would definitely stay here again if visiting 'burgh for the fringe.”
“Very good place, the owner was always looking after us and did a couple of fixes we needed when we were there. I'd definitely recommend it, very good value for money”
“A five minute walk from the St James's Centre, the flat is in a very quiet location. Very clean, well-equipped and modern flat - we thouroughly enjoyed our stay and would most certainly book again.”
“This is a beautiful flat in a lovely location with a fantastic view of the park. It is well equipped and very comfortable. There is a good bus link about 5 minutes walk away and we found it took us between 20-25mins to walk into the centre of the city. I never realised how much there is to see and do in Edinburgh and would love to return to explore some more.”
“We spent a lovely three nights in the flat in March 2013.
The flat is beautiful and in a wonderful location. The service you receive is second to none and we look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Edinburgh.”
“This is a lovely cottage which is well maintained with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay inc plenty of storage for all our own things. We quickly felt at home not least because of the warm but not overwhelming welcome from the owners. There are great coffee shops, bars, restaurants and a supermarket on the door step as well as handy bus stops to take you into city centre and beyond. The Shore is a lovely historic location and on lazy or rainy days there is plenty to do round about inc 5 min walk to Ocean Terminal. I almost wish the weather had not been so kind so we could have just stayed home at Timber Bush, curled up on the sofas, watching films and reading, but maybe we will get to do that next time? We will certainly be going back! Thank you, Janet for introducing us to Margaret, Bill and Timber Bush!”
“Very cosy, comfortable one bedroom flat. Nice bright feel. Super convenient, but quiet, close to excellent shops and buses to centre of town. Good value.”
“Lovely apartment. Spotlessly clean and for a 1 bedroom apartment, equipped with everything we needed and more. Great location with views of castle. Owner very helpful. Would definitely recommend.”
“I rented this flat for my three sons who were all returning to Edinburgh for Christmas. They were delighted with it as it was very conveniently situated and had just the right accomodation for them including a good sized lounge.”
“Very central location next to the bus stop to the airport and near from the bus and train stations as well (10 min in normal walking). There are food shops very close. The flat is very comfortable and well heated. It's quiet (this is a pedestrian street) although we could hear the seagulls in the morning.
It's very pleasant to come back here after a good day of walking and sightseeing.”
