“I travel approximately once a month on Hull Trains.
The staff are generally very helpful and pleasant and well trained
Reliability has improved for me this year
A pleasure to travel on”
“I have travelled with Hull Trains for many years and always found the service first class. The trains run to time and the staff go out of their way to be helpful, and on one occasion the Train Manager directed a member of staff to escort me to the Underground and help me with my luggage as I am disabled and was struggling to cope. I have never had service like this from any other train company, long may it last, it has been exceptional.”
“I have given this five stars because I have always found the service excellent. The booking website is easy to use and tickets have always been received the very next day. Also the service on the train is good.”
“I travel with Hull Trains many times a year and I am always encountering problems which mainly I ignore however when I do try to complain as very recently your customer service is very poor indeed”
“I always choose to travel with First Hull Trains over other train companies, due to their excellent customer service, cheap fares, free WiFi and plenty of legroom. From past experiences, First Hull Trains always ensure the customer is inconvenienced as little as possible by timetable disruptions and do their best to keep passengers happy when things go wrong. I always recommend when friends and family are travelling.”
“I appreciated the tranquil environment within the train as it silently progressed through the countryside without. Prompt departures and efficiently-managed stops make for a reliable and comfortable journey and hassle-free travel.”
“1. Reliable - you've never let me down
2 Friendly - your staff are, without exception, polite and helpful
3 Good value - I travel frequently by public transport (train, bus and tram) in Germany and you come very close to the German standards of efficiency
4 I must admit that the current 'through' trains are just a little short of the standard one could hope for when travelling to London. Having to change at Doncaster is (for me) not a problem because I know the East Coast Virgin train is big, heavy and very, very quiet. I understand you are buying some new trains for the London run - I look forward to that.
Buying train tickets can be a nightmare. Buying tickets for Hull Trains is not; it is easy and 'preiswert'.
Lang may your lum reek”
“Even with problems on the line the Hull Trains team did a very efficient turn around. The team were their usual friendly cheerful and helpful selves.”
“Travelling between London and Hull is a great experience. There is lots of leg room and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only grumble is that the online booking system only ever allocates me a table seat and there is no ability to change it. I have limited mobility so always have to find another seat.”
“I rarely experience delays with First Hull Trains. I like the direct routes between London and Grantham. I enjoy the spacious seats and the amount of leg room but I feel like there could be more luggage space at the each end of every carriage because I have often got on at the end I'm sitting at to find there is nowhere to put my suitcase then have to drag up the aisle which causes all sorts of havoc.”
“I purchased a return ticket to London online from Hull trains but two things went wrong. Firstly the train I'd booked was cancelled but fortunately there were other trains I could use instead and the delay overall was about 50 minutes.
Secondly I discovered they hadn't sent me the return part of the ticket so I had to buy another at full price which cost almost as much as the original saver return.
I am glad to say that Hull Trains responded to my problems and gave me a refund of the original saver return fare. Thank you very much.
My advice is, check your tickets.”
“I was not overly impressed with the First Class Service on 16th and 19th June 2015 after having paid £256 for two return tickets. It is seemingly too popular with the business traveller fraternity since the carriage was not particularly quiet. The portion sizes are a tad on the paltry side (or perhaps I am a bit of a glutton) and the third mug of tea was lukewarm.
Due to be travelling First Class again next year and hopefully that will be a better experience.”
“The staff were very friendly and helpful.
the train ran on time.
The rolling stock does need updating and is showing serious signs of wear and tear.
It is great to have Hull Trains though!”
“Advance purchase fares - both first class and standard class (I've used both) - are quite reasonable for Hull-London length trip. Staff always courteous and friendly. Food portions in first class small - not even at size of airline coach meals.”
“I travel regularly on Hull Trains, mainly from Brough to Kings X on business and to visit family. With my work being abroad, I regularly have to change my travel date / schedules and as such, it is essential having the flexibility that re-arranging my dates for return tickets home via the Hull Trains on-line site gives me. Yes, there is a 10 pounds surcharge for changing tickets and maybe you wont get a similar cheap price from your early booking but for the cost of a tenner, the remainder of your original purchase price is taken off the new ticket. This is unlike the Train Line whom don't give any flexibility on 'fixed' tickets, even when you try and change the date of travel weeks earlier from your planned travel date. I really enjoy Hull Trains On-Line support and the staff are excellent on board. It's a really relaxing journey when you book in advance. Thanks to Hull Trains.”
“Good easily managed website efficient staff clean trains.
Fantastic cheap value fares down to London - unfortunately not so cheap for return journey.
Hence the duction of one star”
“I always travel by Hull trains to London. I go first class and am very well looked after. I like the food and coffee provided and it is a comfortable journey.”
