“Carriages are usually quite clean and of reasonable condition.
Buffet cart is poor though - limited range of sandwiches and especially poor for breakfast. The only healthy option is porridge which is good but often this is out of stock. The bacon sandwiches etc are dreadful as the whole thing goes in the microwave which makes the bread soggy. The packs of sandwiches sometimes also have soggy bread. I have taken them back before and got my money back.
Good that wifi is available for all - very important to have - although it is a bit hit and miss.
Train is usually very busy at peak times - desperately needs another carriage.”
“I travel from London Kings Cross to Selby several times a year and I'm consistently amazed with the ease of the journey and the 99% on time arrivals. And all for such a great price”
“Good punctual service with helpful friendly staff. As a medic, had to stop and help an injured passenger of which I noted the train staff to be attentive and professional when dealing with a setback. Keep up the good service!”
“I travelled off peak with my wife and got the tickets at a very attractive price. The train was on time, comfortable and clean. Its the way to travel. Chris of Selby”
“Train on time. Very clean, modern comfortable, sufficient space. Buffet car and trolley service available. WI FI access. All in all good value for money.”
“I have ben using this route and service for 40 years now, since I was 10 years old, and I still can't book the seat I would like, on line or on the telephone, and nobody can tell my why?
I would be very grateful if you could?

“We booked First Hull Trains prior to leaving Australia, having travelled with them previously. The train left on time from Kings Cross, and the entire trip was smooth, very fast (surprisingly so), and comfortable. The coaches were clean and comfortable and the rest room facilities very good for the standard. The train arrived on time into Paragon Station Hull.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip. For us it's a no-brainer. We don't travel to the UK very often but when we do and need to get to Hull in a comfortable and timely manner First Hull Trains gets the nod from us. I can't think of anything to criticise. FHT seem to be a professional outfit, with modern rolling stock and friendly staff. That's about it really...”
“An excellent service with friendly staff and it seems like they make it a minute or two faster with every timetable change. So why not 'very good'?
1. The toilets are a bit smelly and there are often 1 or 2 out of service on any given train.
2. I am really fed up of hearing "... but next time you must bring your railcard", which I seem to hear on every single trip. It seems like they let people get the railcard discount without making passengers actually buy a railcard. Very annoying when you have paid full price!
3. The food and drink offer is poor. The sandwiches are boring, the food is generally not very healthy and there is poor choice for vegetarians. Despite Yorkshire being full of great breweries, Hull Trains only sell the usual horrible national brands (how about something from Atom or Wold Top?) On the plus side, prices in the buffet are a little cheaper than most intercity operators and the coffee is now quite good.”
