It was disappointing that when I had paid I discovered the tutor is not 1.5 miles away but 2.2 miles. Havent had a lesson yet as there have been practical issues.

I recently paid £14.99 for Fabienne, got her address and discovered that she only does tutoring at her home. Therefore I decided not to use her. Can you tell me how I get the £14.99 refunded? Many thanks Kirsten Rees

Dear Diana, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you have had a poor experience. We do ask that all tutors switch off their profiles if they no longer have availability which clearly hasn't happened in this case for which we apologise. I can see my colleague has already been in touch regarding how to leave feedback for a tutor and if we can be of any further help please do let us know. Kind regards, Grace Customer Service Team First Tutors

The intro fee is pretty expensive but there are a lot of tutors around in your area that you wouldn't have found without the web.

Found it to be quite a complicated procedure. Also I put ‘Bushey’ in the search and found the person we were linked to in fact lived in Hatch End which was no good to us. Felt I had wasted my money !

Dear Alfred, I'm sorry to read your feedback. We aim to make our service as user friendly as possible and would like to discuss this with you to see if we can make the relevant improvements. Our search function uses user postcodes to determine the distance between tutor and client. If you use the search function on our home page, you will be shown a list of tutors local to your area. I can also see that your chosen tutor has an address in Hatch End and there is no mention of Bushey on their profile or via the tutor map. If you require any clarification regarding this, please do contact customer support. Kind Regards, Sarah First Tutors Customer Service

Strange business model for a website where you charge potential clients for an introduction that is provided free elsewhere. Would be much more attractive proposition if the site were funded in some other manner. I will not be able to recommend the site to friends even though it worked for me.

Dear Noel, Thank you for your feedback. The intro fee helps cover costs for reference checks, ID checks, qualification verification etc. This provides peace of mind to many parents and students. We wish you the best of luck with your new tutor but if you encounter any problems do please contact our customer service team, we are here to help!. Dear Harriet, Thank you for your feedback. It is completely optional for a tutor to upload their profile picture, and many do so that tutees can see exactly who will be providing tuition. Should you wish to see feedback past tutees have left for a tutor these can be found on the tutors profile. However, tutors do have the right to hide feedback which will show up as negative on their profile. In light of this most tutors don't hide their feedback. Should you have any further queries please do email customer service. Kind regards, Grace Customer Service Team First Tutors

Confusing process to get in contact with the tutor...Admin fast with responses when there was an issue with an email ( ie a phone number exchanged) but slow off the mark when asked to clarify the process.

Dear Tony, Thank you for your feedback. I have looked into your request and see that admin did step in to help but I can't find any reference to where you asked to clarify the process either via the request or via email to our customer service team. If you need further help please don't hesitate to contact us via email. Best of luck with your new tutor! Regards Sara Customer Service Team First Tutors.

Whilst the process is simple enough it is a little steep having to pay to obtain details of the tutor. Having paid £20 up front plus £25 for the session, the tutor & my daughter were not compatible making it an expensive but unfruitful single session. I feel you should only pay this fee if you continue to use the tutor.

Dear Claire, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you feel our fee is expensive. We believe that we offer an excellent variety of tutors with introduction fees ranging from £4.99 to £24.99 which enables tutees to find a tutor to suit all budgets. I can see you haven't been in touch regarding the tuition session being a success. We do have a set procedure in place when tuition goes wrong, so I have contacted you with the details via email. If we can be of any further help please do let us know. Kind regards, Grace Customer Service Team First Tutors

I paid the £7.99 sign on fee but because the page had expired I then had to pay it again to find another tutor to connect with . It maybe that I done something wrong but at the time it gave me no other choice . It doesn’t seem right to have to pay every time

Dear Patrick, Thank you very much for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear there has been a misunderstanding regarding our introduction fee. I'm afraid we charge an introduction fee for every tutor's details you wish to obtain. This helps cover the costs of security checks on tutors including verifying Photo ID, confirming the tutor resides in the UK and obtaining two independent references. If we can be of any further help please do email us via the Contact Us page on the site. Kind regards, Grace Customer Service Team First Tutors

I have been very dissapointed that you have very unprofessional, qualified teachers advertised on your website (ref: Estella English ex-retired teacher ). She had all my requirements during our initial dialogue and agreed to take my son on for 7+ exam, we had our first lesson which went well and was due to have 2nd lesson tomorrow and only to receive a text from her saying my son is too young for her to teach and that her experience is with older kids!! She was fully aware of this before she took my son and then also assured me during the first lesson she will continue to work with him !! I am a single mum and have not only wasted my money paying First Tutors for her details but also £30 which I paid directly to her!! I would like a total refund please !!!!! I don’t trust this website anymore as the teachers are complete liars !!!!

I found a good tutor Iso that was extremely positive. However the cost of £20 I believe is too high and I wasn't made aware of the fee until the last minute. This is disappointing.

Dear Becca, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you feel our introduction fee was too high for the tutor you chose. We do offer a range of tutors with introduction fees from £4.99-24.99 to suit all budgets. This fee is related to the price a tutor charges per hour and covers the cost of security checks including gathering independent references, verifying photo ID and ensuring the tutor resides in the UK. I do apologise that you felt the introduction fee was sprung upon you at the end. We do state it at the top of all requests, under 'How to find a tutor' and in several of our emails prior to payment. Please be assured I will pass your feedback on and if you have any further questions do email customer service via the Contact Us page. Kind regards, Grace Customer Service Team First Tutors

Found the initial process confusing think we sorted it in the end .needs looking at it was only that the tutor knew what to do that it worked.

Quite expensive price to put me in contact with a local tutor. Although seen as I was struggling on my own, I'd say it was worth it. Frustrating that the price you pay to share contact details isn't a standardised price but is a reflection of the tutors costs. Lacked transparency a bit, as if I wasn't already invested in my tutor and liked her, then I probably would have gone elsewhere because of the price. Website works fine. Clear and easy to use.

Website really easy to use and Tom responded straight away. My only issue is the information regarding the introduction fee could be clearer and less expensive, £24.99 just to be able to contact the tutor
