The water butt looks good on the front of my house but unfortunately almost immediately it filled with silt and debris, which blocked the water from flowing out of the tap and made it unusable. It was a very unpleasant job trying to clear them out, and unfortunately it blocked again soon after. My house is small, it’s not under trees and I don’t have an unusual amount of moss on my roof. All drainpipes and downpipes were fitted new at the same time as the water butt. When I emailed I was advised to purchase two ‘optional extras’: a product to stop the smell, and a leaf catcher (£19). The leaf catcher is not shown on any of the promotional photos - presumably because it is ugly, and seriously detracts from the neat design of the water butt, which is why I purchased it for the front of my house. My view is that a water butt which blocks immediately is not fit for purpose. At £159 new this premium product should work out of the box, and certainly not require an additional £19 accessory (plus £5 postage - for a bit of plastic!). I strongly advise against buying this product.

I wrote to the company (titled "FAO the Managing Director") as follows: I am a very disgruntled customer. I recently bought one of your 100 litre The Original Prestige Wall Mounted Water butts (order number XXXXX). It arrived last week and I mounted it on the wall on Friday. Following the instructions supplied with it, I tried to fit the tap once the butt was mounted on the wall. I could not get it to thread. Although I am a competent DIYer (I recently changed the mixer tap in the kitchen), I asked a friend who does lots of plumbing to pop round and help. He had not joy, as the thread looked like it might have crossed we tried to find a replacement tap locally, after 40 minutes driving round we couldn’t get one. I then bought one from Amazon (£6.77). This arrived this morning. I tried that and it still didn’t want to thread. The replacement tap came with a nut. This threaded immediately and snugly on the original tap and the replacement, but was a very wobbly fit on the plug that was supplied with the butt, clearly they were a different diameter. I contacted your chat line and they suggested applying Vaseline or else taking the butt off the wall and pouring warm water over the female thread. I did indeed need to take the butt of the wall, which was a pain as I had an offset kit fitted top and bottom. Once warm water was applied the tap went in fairly easily. I then suggested to the chat person that you consider updating the instructions (to fit the tap before mounting the butt) as I was clearly not the first person to have this problem. I was astounded to be told that the instructions had been updated and were also on the website! Why on earth did you send out outdated instructions only last week. You could easily have drawn attention to this in the order confirmation and/or delivery advice emails. Thanks to this I have wasted mine and my friend’s time and money. I am deeply unimpressed. I received a "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused" from the support team. This despite asking for comments from senior management and the fact that I had already detailed the degree of inconvenience. I didn't and don't consider this an adequate response. Feel free to form your own opinion

Ordered 3 products with delivery. After a week nothing had arrived so emailed support. Was told it could be 2 weeks for delivery so email back if nothing in two weeks. Did that as still received nothing after 2 weeks. New package sent out which came 24 hours later but was missing 1 of the 3 products. Emailed again and another 24 hours later missing product turned up. Royal Mail delivery reference I was given never worked. Poor experience wouldn’t use again.

1. The item arrived a little bit marked which wasn’t a major issue. 2. The screws that come with the item and not fit for purpose for the item as not just are they an extremely poor quality screw which don’t look like they’re made to do the job As the screws raw plugs keep spinning inside the wall so my advice would be to buy your own screws and use them, however the main issue is that the screwheads are grossly too small for the holes at the top of the item As when you drive the screw in it goes right the way through the item and this could’ve been prevented by providing a correct fit for purpose screw head or simply a rubber and metal: shaped washer. 3. The centre black cap Clearly does not fit inside the hole on the front of the item I had to wrap electricians insulation tape many times around to get it to fit. 4. The tap that comes with the units is extremely cheaply made and worse still let’s-buy water and leaks from the top butterfly nuts, thus resulting in a loss of water over a period of time which sort of defeats the object of wanting to be a little bit more self-sufficient and energy saving. 5. The two big round caps that go on the top of the units to cover the holes are extremely cheap tac & don’t fit snug so I can see them coming out with a little bit of wind or a lot of water TBC. 6. When I complain to the company highlighting these issues they pretty much ignored me in a response email, I then had to further write back him asking if they would be kind enough to resolve the issues and they ignored all issues apart from the tap of which they did offer to send a new one out! To be absolutely honest and speak with clarity I can honestly say that the whole idea is absolutely amazing not to mention the design of how it connects to the pipes Etc, I really do love the main item and what it does and how it does it but obviously I am dissatisfied as stated above. If you are looking to buy one of these items then I strongly recommend this item as long as you are under no illusion as to what you will receive so you should expect to buy your own brass threaded tap, you’re own wall screws & plugs, some rubber cone washers similar to what they used to secure toilets down with & be happy at doing a DIY job on the caps. Please also note that the top hole which accepts the rainwater pipe does except the downspout to be inserted inside of the harvest tank somewhat.

All fixings are cheap plastic and leaked. No compensation!

This water butt was described as terracotta which is earthenware, when it arrived it was plastic. It’s similar to plant pots, you get good terracotta ones or cheap plastic ones. I feel conned
