“I had two bikes on one policy with Bennetts (a 2003 Triumph Bonneville and a 2007 Honda CBF 1000). I'm changing the Honda for a new Triumph Tiger 800 XRX - a new model this year. Because the underwriters (Equity Red Star don't have the new bike on their system (it was only launched 6 months ago!) I had to take the Honda off the existing policy (with a paltry refund) and start a new policy for the new bike with Aviva. Due to riming I have had to start with zero no claims bonus with Aviva also in order to get the legal assistance gear cover and breakdown cover (which I have on my existing policy) I was invited to pay yet another Â£55I accept that this is probably my fault - after all who would want to buy a bike so soon after launch! I don't have a lot pf previous experience in insuring bikes (I had a very long break in my motorcycling) but plenty of experience in insuring cars so this all came as an expensive surprise to me.On a positive note the nice lady at Bennetts did give me some good advice about what to do when my original policy comes up for renewal in October - I hope that I will be able to give a better review then but right now I have more than 200 reasons to be unhappy with the motorcycle insurance business.”

“Been insured through Bennetts for a while received my renewal did the usual thing through the comparison webs Bennetts were by far the best all round I can't really understand why I wasted any time looking I lost half an hour valuable riding time in front of the computer.!!”

“I have always been pleased with the value and service provided by Bennetts until I needed to transfer my insurance to another bike. I had 2 bikes both insured with Bennetts and I traded them both in for a new bike. Bike 1 had 11 months insurance left on it bike 2 had 7 weeks insurance left. I asked to transfer the insurance on bike 1 to my new bike. They said they could not (would not ????) but they could transfer from bike 2. Therefore it has cost me 2 administration fees and a total of Â£90 for 6 weeks insurance on my new bike. IT ABSOLUTELY STINKS AND I DO NOT CARE WHAT EXCUSES THEY HAVE TO JUSTIFY THIS SCAM IT SHOULD BE STOPPED. A few taps on the computer keyboard and a couple of mouse clicks job done and I thought solicitors were expensive. Of course if it was stopped prices would rise. I have compared the market and Bennetts are still nearly the cheapest so I may stick with them for convenience unless they don't want to insure me after this review. Of course it is not just Bennetts all insurance companies rip you off with administration fees. I am still giving them a 4 star rating because they do generally give good service and value although I can't comment about the claims procedure.”

“Good points very good competitive rates never had to use them for a claim yet so cannot comment on there service . Bad points why as a existing customer should I have to pay Â£20 insurance set up fee”

“was happy last year with Bennettshave my gsxr 600 insured through themcame away from my usual broker as was recommended to Bennetts by a friendnot happy at allwas told that my insurance had carried on another yearwas even sent a new quote saying not to change anything as it will carry straight on and only let them know if i did not want it to carry onwell had a letter saying that my insurance had been stopped by them and i was not insuredthis was 2 days after they had stopped itso if i was riding the bike during those 2 days if i had an accident i was not coveredhad to start a new quote with them when i rang them and then had to pay another deposit which i would not have needed toi explained i was not happy and it could have caused a lot of problems for me with the police and if i were involved in an accidentthey did not give me an explanation as to why it had been stopped but offered me a Â£10 cheque to cover some of the depositnot a lot considering the potential consequences of what could have happenedi will not be using Bennetts for my next renewal thats for sure.”

“Reasonable price bike specific insurance. What more could you ask for docs came through by email within minutes of finishing the payment page. Can't comment on customer service as have not had to deal with them and hope not too.”

“Very good it was a pleasure to receive my renewal quote this year on my bike. So many with renewals do you get an overpriced quote this was not only very close to the lowest of the comparison web sites offers but also lower than my last years cost with all options ticked.Excellent keep it up.”

“Poor. Over the last five plus years I've been with bennetts. I never had to worry about my insurance automatically renewing. This year it didn't renew automatically. I only noticed a few days ago I'd not had new documents through. The guy said they sent me a letter. Unfortunately they sent to my old address because I hadn't updated address. Surely the emailing me for free would of got my attention. With a busy life most young people connect by email. Failing me contacting you. You sure of phoned me and left a voice message if I didn't answer. We something saying we have not automatically renewed your policy this year. Sending letters is old school and expensive. A text would be far cheaper.”
