I like the fact that they gave me a very competitive quote. On top of that, I am earning weekly rewards, which is a definite bonus. The weekly rewards encourage me to drive well, i.e., within speed limits, smoothly, etc., which I think is making me a better driver in the process. On the downside, if you are inclined to speak to someone, I am not sure how easy it is to actually pick up a phone. However, they are available and very responsive on Live Chat, so I haven't really had the need to call them up. Also, haven't had the need to make a claim - thankfully, and hopefully it will stay that way. So, can't comment on that side of things.

The scoring system feels like nonesense. Easily going from perfect 10 scores to 0.2 scores. Keep getting low score on smoothness and I don't understand why when I brake to a stop non harsh or in a quick way.

Good use of black box and dashboard although while points were earned it would not let me convert so I think I missed out on a large amount. However all in all can't fault it.

Black box issue for young driver. Box changed repeatedly just after midnight even though no new journeys were undertaken. Spoke to chat help - only communication method on offer - but couldn't be resolved. Carrot said delayed journey registering, but no journeys taken, car still sat on driveway. This product seems to either work really well or appealing bad for individuals. It's like the Russian Roulette of car insurance - take it out at your own risk. I chose to cancel mine.

Stole my £300 tried to contact them on day 13 and 14 of policy nobody was available. Finally got through to them on day 15 and they refused to give me my deposit back

DO NOT USE ... this company limits your usage in your own vehicle, says no curfew but this is hidden under the term “usage”

God awful customer service, used carrot as it was good price for me as a new driver but I still paid a hefty price even with the box. I was threatened with cancellation and they proceeded with it when I wanted to change my address since they wouldn't cover me if I moved to a new address even though I HADNT confirmed the move yet. Then a month before its due to expire i had a -0.1 on my score being at RISK of cancellation but they went ahead and cancelled it anyway... no reasoning and no empathy. STAY AWAY, its not worth it. Im currently with ROOSTER which is a way better insurer, cheap and NO BLACK BOX

I’ve just renewed my insurance for the 3rd year running and I have never had a problem with carrot they have always been amazing from my very first year so quick and easy to sort everything out even when changing cars part way through year 2 everything was so simple and with getting the black box fitted they managed to work a time out best to suit me. Also cheapest insurance quote by far nearly half the price of anywhere else.

customers are given a black box which records data including speed, smoothness (accelerating and braking) and usage (time spent driving). I have been a customer with carrot for about 9 months now and have constantly been given random poor usage scores even when i’m driving at normal hours. When i would try to contact someone at Carrot i would have to wait close to an hour before anyone answered my call, and the reasoning behind why my usage score has dropped wouldn’t make any sense as i had not done anything to make it poor, such as very long journeys with no breaks or late night driving. i would be given a poor score for driving even at 1pm in the afternoon. When you have a good weekly score you are given a reward of 500 points which is equivalent to £5, however if your score goes down so does the amount of points earned. Because of this unfair usage score i have not been able to collect this on many occasions and since nothing can be done about this, whether it be customer service or the box which gives unfair scores, i have given a poor rating on this company purely based on my user experience. Out of the black box provider companies, i would advise to avoid this insurer as you will constantly be annoyed at your score regardless of how well you have driven.

I am currently on my first year of insurance with carrot, I was very confused and overwhelmed at the start with everything however carrot quickly resolved all my confusion and issues. Prices are very good and the deals are even better. Customer service is always extremely quick and any issues are always resolved within the same hour

Really friendly customer service when requesting my renewal quote and changing the address of the quote. Easy and simple. Much easier than I imagined with it all being automated and no phone calls.
