Appalling company - spent hours on the phone trying to sort out a no fault claim - the other person's insurance company had already said they'd pay out - I wish I had taken them up on their offer. I will never get insurance with this company again.

Fine until you need to make a claim. We needed to make a household (home and contents) claim following an escape of water. The property was left untouched for nearly three months while everything went mouldy, and then the company fought every since penny of the claim claiming they weren't responsible for so much. Communication from them has been terrible- refusing to answer our questions, while bombarding us with questions of their own, and some of the third parties they use are downright rude. Fortunately- against their advice- we removed all our valuable and sentimental items the day of the claim. If we hadn't done so, everything we treasured would have been lost to their negligence. They have admitted they many mistakes were made on our claim, involving crazy amount of time and hassle for us in sorting this out, but haven't offered a penny in compensation for this.

Had policy since November and still not received documents. My car was hit and Churchill are REFUSING to acknowledge the accident details and IGNORING ALL CORRESPONDENCES. Live chat is even useless. 1st person even tried to say I was not insured at all. (Fraud) ? Taking money and not opening policy. ? Solicitor and Ombudsman noe involved. Stay away from them.

They cancelled my policy out of no where because I hadn’t given proof of no claims discount, even though they could have easily got it off the database or asked my old insurer. I had no letters to warn me or tell me they were cancelling, I only noticed when I checked my bank account and had a refund off them. They could have got me 6 points and a fine for driving with no insurance but failed to tell me they had cancelled my policy. I asked why they didn’t phone or email as well to tell me and they said they only communicate through post. Sorry didn’t realise we still lived in the 50’s and that letters never get lost or even never get sent. Called up and they requoted me £1000 more than the original policy. The girl on the phone said it’s not that much more, which was out of order. I complained at 8am when they first opened to then get one call back at 11, which I just missed but couldn’t call back. Absolutely rubbish customer service and dangerous company to deal with when they cancel policy’s with no communication and then charge £1000 more to insure you. What a money making con. I will be reporting them to the financial ombudsman and watch dog. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!!!!

I would not recommend Churchill car insurance to anyone, I reversed out of a supermarket car space( as everyone does) and a car opposite parked in a disabled bay( not disabled) reverse into the side of my passenger side door as I had already completed reversing and wa about to move forward. I had 2 witnesses that provided a statement to say it was the other persons fault and Churchill refused to pay out saying I was at fault for reversing. I lost £250 and then every further insurance had to declare an accident that THEY claim I was half responsible. Make sure if you are insured with Churchill you never reverse as apparently this isn’t allowed. Shocking company

Had car insurance with them, then after a driver had driven into us they basically left us to sort out all the courtesy car and garage repairs having to take lots of days of work to sort it. So rude and unhelpful. And to top it all we were left without a car on the day of our holiday costing us taxis to get to the airport

Rubbish company, didn't send renewal notifications to me so when I called a day after to get it renewed (14 days leeway called on 15th day after insurance ended) they said it would have been a renewal of £535 but we'll have to do a new quote that came out well over £1000. There appears to be no recourse, I have 9 years no claims and paid in full every year never claimed through them. They clearly don't care about their customers and just try to get as much money out of you as possible. Needless to say they lost another customer

Please avoid this company, I have just had a claim go through but within 12 months of the work being carried out another issue related to the claim has been declined by the insurance company. Its difficult to understand why this company has decided this route but they have left my house in a dangerous position with children living there. Churchill have left me with no fire escape from the back of the house. I will take this company to the financial ombudsman service to explain how Churchill operate. Churchill are a disgrace ,they have taken away my no claims bonus for a £100 excess and don't want anything to do with the claim after the excess has been paid. From this experience I would never recommend this dodgy company. They send workmen out to your house and don't put dust sheets down to protect your carpet. I would expect that any work being carried out has a 12 month warranty but not Churchill. I am left furious by Churchill ,who don't have any problem in leaving my insurance work like this. Don't touch this company they are such a scam company.

A 50% increase in car insurance premium with no explanation from one year to the next with no change in details is unacceptable. The attitude was "take it or leave it" we are not interested in being helpful.

I have been a loyal customer with Churchill for at least 8 years insuring both my van and car with no claims during that time. I noticed that the premiums were increasing quite a lot. Last year I saved over £100 on my van insurance moving to Hastings. Before I changed, I called Churchill to see if they could come down on their quote but they were not interested. Customer loyalty with this company does not exist. It has now come to renew my car insurance, this has just increased from £440 to £501. Hastings quote for the same car is £345....a saving of £156. So despite having a 2 car discount with Churchill, their premiums have become much higher and don't come close to the competition in my case, so will never consider this company again.

I have a car, house and van policy with Churchill and I was always happy with the service. Unfortunately, the van insurance is now administered by Brightside Insurance Services Ltd, so Churchill is only on the letterhead, the service stops there. Brightsides first act was to take away my 9 years mirrored NCD orginally set-up by and honoured by Churchill as a long-term customer, I had 4 yrs of my own too. When my empty and parked vehicle was collided with by a stolen car being blocked in unsuccessfully by police the cost was my excess and two years NCD. I also had to manage the entire claim myself because the vehicle was leased and had to be mended by a Ford approved repair centre in accordance with the lease. Churchill/Brightside Insurance couldn't offer a Ford approved repair centre. The legal cover I had took my details but then never responded beyond that and in addition, I had vehicle replacement cover, the vehicle offered was a car, not much use for a business. A poor and costly experience after years of good service, so much for loyalty.
