I went on a site to get insurance for a van, the company I chose was Churchill. I completed the application and was accepted and paid in full. A few days later I received an email from Brightside insurance who apparently insure vans for Churchill. They asked for a copy of the V5 registration. The van has only just been bought so we could not produce it. From then on I received monthly threats that the insurance would be cancelled unless I produced it. Each month I had to get them to extend the insurance because DVLA was taking well over 6 weeks to send out V5s. No explanation was given for requesting a V5 which I have never had to produce before. I was asked for proof that I had applied for a V5, which I sent, but still the threats to cancel continued. DVLA were not taking phone calls but I managed to send a message to them explaining my situation and they replied and told me when I could expect the V5. I sent this to Brightside and was given a deadline and then told I had to pay a further £149 for the insurance. I was told t was because changes were made! No changes had been made at all. I was then told the wrong date of purchase for the van was put down on the application, which I could not dispute because I had no access to my original application of the Churchill website. I was forced to pay, however Brightside's fee of £35 was removed. I experienced over 3 month hanging on the phone every month because of this! I will never use either company again and would never recommend them either. If you use them take a photo shot of anything you do with them online for your own security.

Cannot contact. Been waiting on phone for 1 1/2 hours as I urgently need a copy of insurance. When I got through advisor had no idea and put me on hold for another hour. Terrible

Their fees for making any small amendment are extortionate. From a change of address to swapping a car - they hit you where it hurts. And, thanks to modern technology, what’s even more gruelling is that you do all the work! The joys of car ownership are practically zero now thanks to an ever desperate money grabbing government and local councils, rubbish roads, idiotic smart motorways and every kind of conceivable speed trap - this bunch of on-line pirates compound the misery ten fold. Then again - what’s the alternative.

Terrible insurance company. Wrote off my vehicle after a no fault claim, the vehicle was virtually irreplaceable but they refused to repair, then offered me a derisory sum to compensate on the basis that there were no cars around like mine so that was best estimate of valuation they could make. Then accused me of trying to profit when I asked for more even though I originally wanted my vehicle repaired. Took 3 days to provide a hire vehicle and then took the hire vehicle away before cheques even arrived to replace it. Appalling service, never use Churchill!

Sorry I had to give you one star I did not want to give any. I tried to contact you today for over 1 hour on hold for over 30 minutes on the phone then again on your so called virtual assistant . Both a complete dogs dinner no wonder you have a dog as a mascot. You have plenty of links to carry on with your insurance and do things on line, all I wished to do was to cancel my policy. Reason is that you did not fully insure me for traveling abroad. Absolute mess and waste of time.

Very bad in the policy shows curtsy car but behind something els had accident no fault and 10 days later I have been told that I’m not allowed for curtsy car 😁😁I have to hire car from my pocket I don’t recommend this insurance to friends

Churchill is my worst experience in 14 years of car insurance. Due to miscommunication between Churchill and DLG Auto Services I've been without a courtesy car for over. Week.

Heartless liars! If I could leve 0-I would. The had a part of our roof blown away in a storm and Churchill DECLINED! Said the roof was old..Total knobs and they will do anything to avoid paying for the repairs. Bunch of heartess crooks-left me and kids with a massive hole in a toof in the middle of the winter. Avoid!

I had a car accident last night and have been advised that I have to wait 2 working days for garage to assess damage before arranging curtesy car. They left me stranded to make my own my home and offered to assist with the cost of public transport. I live in a village and the accident happened 27 miles away I Glasgow. You only realise how bad a company is when you actually need help.

Hubby rang to change his insurance as got a new car. They said his card had been declined I think they where putting the wrong numbers in. They said as I was on his insurance I could ring and pay on my card. After 30 mins on hold I finally got through I could hear the person on the phone but they said they couldn't hear me so cut me off. Hubby rang again and did the automated payment and his card was accepted. Unacceptable waiting 30 mins to be cut off

Went to cancel my car insurance. 8 months left on my policy, not buying a another car. They wanted £53.78 to cancel my policy, admin charge. Disgusting. Better to pay monthly in future and just cancel the monthly payment. Who knows what would happen if you need to claim!!! Disgusting service.

be careful with these people. In anticipation of my car insurance renewal, 30 days early, I requested a cancellation. Today (9 days after said "cancellation", I received a letter saying "insurance will automatically renew". I called to reiterate I do not want a renewal, and was reassured that it was on "manual" renewal, so it would not continue without my consent. Was also told that the letter I received must have been sent before I requested the cancellation. I hung up, and not 10 minutes later receive an email saying "we have renewed your policy, your documents are on the way". So I am now AGAIN on hold, for another 20 minutes (and counting) to , AGAIN request that they do not take money from my account for a renewal I don't want or need. Will take legal action if this fails.

In July 2021, I was involved in a very minor road accident with another motorist. I contacted my insurance company, Churchill, and despite providing photographs and a written statement, it seems they were quite happy to accept the dishonest and extortionate claim from the third party and then refuse to complete promised telephone calls to myself. It seems to be easier to load the premiums of future insurers than investigate matters properly, but not me as I have now gone elsewhere. NOT RECOMMENDED until Churchill actually provide a proper level of Customer Service.
