Have been with Halifax 40 plus years with no claim Moved into new build 4years ago Four weeks later we had a burst pipe causing extensive damage The builder/ plumber admitted liability Claim is still not settled . Indeed Halifax has not been in touch for more than two years Halifax have now increased insurance 100% with no explanation We cannot get insurance from other companies as this claim isn’t settled and we don’t have a claim value. After phoning Halifax they were so unhelpful They have stopped me renewing elsewhere and after four years we still have a unsettled claim None of this is our fault as the builder/plumber have admitted liability

I was promised that they have 5 day SLA on every phone claim, now I am being told that it's actually 9 working days as they need 3 days to pickup 3 for engineer to look at it and 3 days to drop.. so not sure how is that 5 days.. can someone explain?

Halifax charged me 282 pounds for insurance last year and I have an ultimate reward account with them paying 15 ounds per month. The renewal for this year is 540 pounds. I have not claimed on house insurance for over 20 years so why has the premium doubled? Is it because they think people won't check the price? Ridiculous and needless to say I won't be reinsuring with them again.

Appalling. Took out an insurance with them to start in two weeks. Declared previous accidents but got the exact date wrong. They put the price up by nearly £100. I rang they were very unhelpful so I cancelled. And they charged twenty pounds cancellation fee. Wouldn't budge. Reading these reviews think I have had a lucky escape. WHAT A DISGRACE to the Halifax name beware

Stay away from Halifax home insurance we had roof damage caused by 3 storms in february 2022 we have made over 30 calls and 30 e-mails to person in charge of our claim and gets ignored or never received them even though they are logged on our phones and can be proved she is useless they are refusing to pay as it is ware & tare according to there contractor who never went on it only walked around the house with a camera on a pole and never went on the roof even though it s a flat roof on the extension. We were told to get 2 estimates we did this and both quotes were around £5500 and the guys found the problem straight away but still they say they are not paying got a copy of there contractors reports and they say the roof looks good but getting old the problem is not the roof but the side of the house where the storm hit it hard with winds over 60mph and has lifted the whole side which is allowing the rain water, snow and wind under the roof and inside the house we have to have the kitchen ceiling hall ceiling and bedroom ceiling replaced as well. The customer services are useless they hang up if they can't answer your questions and are not interested to cut a long story short we have had to go to the ombudsman as we are fed up of being lied too. Avoid and save your money

I got a auto renewal I never wanted. These are designed to rip pensioners off. I had told them I didn’t want it yet it was activated. I refused to pay the charge and it went to a debt collector.

For the second time in six years we have had to make a claim for initially our drainage backed-up and the Halifax refused to pay-up saying it wasn't insured. Recently our roof was almost blown off during storm Arween and when we claimed we were told it was "wear and tear" when the the affected extension was less than six years old. They try and wriggle out of paying anything if they can find a get-out clause. What isthe point in paying £187 a year and not have peace of mind when needed that the insurers will pay out?

Dax at Halifax home emergency lied to us and hung up twice because we wished to complain. This is the 5th call since the last 2 weeks but no one has even called us regarding the home emergency. Dax has been prejudicial to a disabled and vulnerable person who have no heating / hot water. He also refused to provide his full details.

My dad has bought the home content from Halifax putting all his details etc. He forgot to check all the details when he received the documents, and when he tried to make a claim they turned around and said no. I asked if there is a system fault they insist there is nothing wrong with their system only fault was my dad! Will not buy them ever again. Bad business practices!!!

Charged me £25 just to change my car insurance policy from my married name to my maiden name. My home insurance provider were able to do the same thing without charging me a penny, as was my pet insurance provider. Will remember this when it comes to renewal

Absolutely horrible travel insurance which made me collect more than 10 different papers from foreign doctors, then rejected my claim anyways. Website is horrible. Their customer service feels more like torture than customer service. Avoid at all costs.

Ceiling came down in bedroom die to a tile slipping and torrential rain soaked the plasterboard. Awful woman from Halifax home insurance said won't cover it as "we do not believe you had winds over 55mph or rain over 55mm that night therefore we will not pay out" when I pointed out the tile could have moved earlier in the month she said " that's classed as an ongoing problem then and we don't cover that". Absolute scam artists. Look at truspilot reviews, wish I had. These need investigating and I'm going to the ombudsman next

Home emergency insurance would not send their engineer back to fix the boiler as they said it wasn't installed corectly - despite installation documents being provided from BT Gas! Then when I got another engineer to do work said these costs were unauthorised and would not be covered. Less than useless cannot rely on their cover at all.

Personally don't deserve any stars. Accidentally damaged the shower tray when I dropped a shaving gel tin. No problem we thought as we have accident cover. Some 9 weeks later, numerous phone calls to chase them, all they seem to want to do is lie, and pass the buck. We have had 2 of their so called surveyors out and despite doing all that they requested we are still no further forward then when we started. We have made a complaint to their customer service team and they should be back with us in around 7 weeks. What the hell are they doing for those 7 weeks? Their staff have blatantly lied, cut off phone calls, never phoned or contacted us. We have done all the legwork. The morale of this, just because the quote is cheap and better then last year you don't always get what you are entitled to. Buyer beware.
