After insuring with them when I sold my vehicle I asked for a quote for my new car and they bumped the price far in excess of £200 more than other quotes I had, also wanted to charge me an extra fee for adjusting the policy and when I decided to cancel they inform me that they only return 9 years NCB when they accepted 11 years protected to take the policy on and charged me an exorbitant £55 administration fee for pressing a cancel button!!! AVOID at all costs

After using Halifax for my home contense insurance and specifically listing my expensive mountain bike it proved pointless. My bike was locked up outside my property for moments before being stolen.. halifax refused to pay out as the place it was lock was not a permanent fixture. Oh and apparently being 10 feet away with your back turned for a second counts as being left unattended. Typical case of find "get out loop holes" poor customer service .. take your money but no intentions to actually cover you in the unfortunate event of a theft.. pointless heart sinking robbing company.. DONT BE CONNED INTO ADDING SPECIFIC ITEMS TO YOUR POLICY

Tried to make a claim and felt as though i was on trial, The claim was for nothing major but thought i give them a call. The person on the other end of the phone taking details and making her own assumptions on what happened.was a disgrace. So halifax you have now lost business from me as i will not be doing my contents insurance with you again.

Halifax obviously have some 'deal' going on with Goldsmiths jewellers. Having had a burglary and therefore a claim for stolen jewellery, Halifax offered no alternative, either than a Goldsmiths voucher for the amount the jewellery was assessed to be worth or a very much lower cash alternative. Very unsatisfactory, especially in view of the fact that what was purported to be a 'high quality' replacement ring by that particular jeweller proved to be of a very low quality.

Rubbish service and they dnt record details properly then have the audacity to apply excess charges and increase insurance when the errors are their fault and amazingly their investigations show no issues with their service 😂

On break in the company only paid for back door and back window but refused to pay for the replacement front door they wanted to repair with a hot gun to fill in the holes which were drilled during break in so I had to pay this out of my own pocket to replace a new door.

Dreadful experience - said I wasn’t covered, no proper communication... when by chance I called them to complain turned out I was covered. Spent months battling with their contractor ‘Home Repair Network Ltd’ mostly, an unprofessional, unpleasant bunch of rude call handlers who try to wriggle out of settling fairly. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Shame as the Halifax staff were helpful. Poor choice of low grade, no doubt low cost contractors helping them keep costs down.

Company that tries to wriggle out of any work. Pay for a service to be told I now need to employ a plumber to send evidence across to Halifax. I shouldn't have to be doing anything as my insurance stated I'm covered. It only takes a quick scroll to see how many others have had poor poor service

This is a terrible insurer. They have left my mother 74 yrs with half a kitchen , taken £450 excess premium and completed no work to trace a leak which is 3m away from any external wall . They charged extra for the trace cover and have tried on every occasion to decline the very first claim made on this policy in over 10 years. Its very simple to take a floor up and check the pipes for a slow leak. But no, they took the kitchen apart unnecessarily, sent a consultant to check the walls to write a report saying there's water but don't know from where 'it could be rainwater' - Really? 3 metres from any external wall and showing as a wet patch on a wall in the middle of two semi detached houses! Denying the claim and not finding a reason for water ingress. . This is a dreadfully poor insurer avoid using them unless you want to pay for stress, headache and cost of a valueless policy providing a 'painfull' cover at the worst of times. insurance is w

Came back home to find a puddle in my window, wet curtains and carpet. Upon inspection have noticed I am unable to open 1 of the windows now. The window has dropped a surrounding plaster has cracked. Rang Halifax to make a claim only to be told they don't class rain as a storm so therefore I want covered. I don't class a window that has dropped to be caused by rain on its roof. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Bye bye Halifax insurance

Never claimed on my insurance until today. Just been told that because my lino in the conservatory is glued down I am not covered as it comes under fixture and fittings not contents insurance. Not happy pay every month without fail. My argument is so if my carpet was burnt and is fixed to the floor would I b covered for that and low and behold the answer was yes!!! Tell me what is the difference?? Not a very happy Halifax customer think I need to look elsewhere for my insurance etc. Feel very let down and angry.

Does not cover what it says it covers. Thunder and lightning storms are not covered under storm cover and any ingress of water is not covered so basically your roof will never be insured. Despite the fact it was surveyed as sound when you bought the property not more than 3 months before and you can evidence the roof was in good repair and there were storm warnings in your area. DO NOT INSURE WITH HALIFAX OR ANY POLICY UNDERWRITTEN BY LLOYD'S GROUP OF COMPANIES

My wife and I are in our 70's. We have never made a claim on a contents policy in our 48 years. We came back from a weekend away at a grandchild's Birthday to find the freezer defrosted. Foolishly, I decided to try to make a claim."Have you disposed of the food? Did you not take photographs? Do you have a list? Well, go to the shops and price each item" I haven't taken it any further - I was made to feel like a fraudster, just because we don't have a camera and don't have mobile phones with cameras. Even if we did, the prospect of laying out - in this weather - a range of defrosted, soggy, foetid and stinking food just to take photographs of it is ludicrous beyond belief. As a Solicitor since 1972 I've always had a slightly jaundiced view of insurers - well, now I've been proved right. Shame on you Halifax!

Totally incompetent builder allowed to call all the shots, run massively over schedule and complete the work to an absolutelyabysmal standard. Still trying to get this resolved more than a year after the fire.

I lost my wedding ring worth £500 and made a claim through Halifax Insurance but I am deeply unhappy and disappointed with the options and response we received from them. The options Halifax gave us were a £175 cash settlement or a £500 voucher. The voucher is only valid to use in their 'nominated' jeweller- the high street chain Goldsmith's- instead of the our preferred jeweller where we bought the ring originally - an independent business who design and manufacture the jewellery themselves - which is the primary reason we purchased from them. During multiple phone conversations with Halifax we asked for them to state the specific section of our policy that says we will be unable to get a replacement from our jeweller of choice (i.e using a cash settlement) and no one from the company was able to clarify. In our correspondence attached, Halifax also mention they tried to contact us by phone. They only phoned us once to discuss their decision and when we called back the next day they had already sent a letter saying our complaint had been rejected. I have been left with no choice to complain about Halifax's decision and note the Financial Ombudsman Service's ruling that "the option to replace the jewellery is not properly exercised by offering a policy holder an authority to buy jewellery up to an agreed value at a particular jeweller's shop. That is wrong in principle, although it seems to have become hallowed practice. It is in fact, a denial of true indemnity." We would like Halifax to offer us a £500 cash settlement so we can buy an exact replacement from our jeweller of choice, not a substandard version from the company they get a discount from. We would like the value we are entitled to under their policy. Halifax's decision has cost me time appealing their decision, emotional strain and will cost me money if their decision is not overturned. We insured out belongings through Halifax as we thought they were a trustworthy company and expected to receive assistance should any of our items go missing - as that's why we are paying them - instead we got rudeness, unhelpfulness, inadequate customer service and stumbling blocks making it difficult to simply get a replacement item of exact quality. I have now been left without a wedding ring for many months.
