The staff at their call centres were their only saving grace, but I felt sorry for them having to deal with these problems which I'm sure are not specific to me. They were a credit to the company although some were (understandably) embarrassed when I explained to them the letters I'd received. Amazing customer service but would never insure with Hastings smart miles again.

I wish I never went with this company and wouldn’t recommend anyone else does either. The scores are rubbish and never go up but go down within a day. None of them make sense as my breaking is 100 but acceleration is a 0 when my car doesn’t even let me accelerate fast!? I’ve requested emails that were supposedly sent to me but they haven’t been received and they were no able to provide me with a copy. I’ve also been charged more money as the automatically increased my mileage to unlimited without asking and we’re going to cancel in 5 days, which I wouldn’t have know if i didn’t ring up. Absolutely shocking. I’ve had around 5+ threats of my policy being cancelled which has caused me so much stress being a first year driver. This may seem like cheap insurance but it will cost you in the long run with the extra charges and the stress. DO NOT GO WITH THEM

HI there, Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry to see that you have had so many issues with our policy though. HI can see that you have received emails from us regarding your policy dropping below 40/100 but have you managed to speak with an advisor about this? We do have a dedicated team that can explain how the box works and give you some really good hints and tips on how to improve. Just wish i'd read this before insuring my son's car! His time of day score is zero even though you can clearly see his journeys over the last 5 days and he's been in before 10! His score is 38 and we now have an email saying he has 7 days before the insurance is cancelled! Well, it wont get to 7 days as i intend to cancel today, what a shambles of a company which looks to penalise young drivers.

Don't appreciate being contacted when I have driven along a bumpy road on the off chance I've been in a crash. Don't appreciate being recorded as driving at 164mph down the A1 when my car isnt even capable of that speed. All this makes me question the accuracy of the data being recorded about my driving habits. Additionally I have a strong suspicion my data is being sold on to claims companies as I am receiving an increased level of unsolicited calls.

Hello there,Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry to see you are unhappy with the calls we make regarding potential incidents. As an insurance company we have a level of responsibility to our policy holders and when you go over a speed hump or pothole at speed its very hard to decipher whether you have been involved in something more serious. If worst case scenario you have been involved in an accident and cant get to the phone we will try to call three time (depending on the severity of the G-Force picked up by the box). If you don't answer we will contact the emergency services with your location to assist you. I appreciate that sometime the speed score goes off the scale but we investigate these thoroughly and they get taken off of any scores or extreme events. ~ Jamie

Competent online application process followed up by pleasant customer services contact. Maybe we Brit's can learn a thing or two from our continental cousins who ignore postcode when setting premium; everyone pays the same rate irrespective of location.

I have been thoroughly satisfied with the service and charges from Hastings Direct. The premiums are really competitive in today's market and I have recommended them to at least four of my friends

It seems to work o.k apart from the speeding side, as i have a road angle in my car that tells me my exact speed g.p.s that is, and you have to use your speed sometime to get out of a situation, and a dash cam as well.
