Had the misfortune of being in the end of one of their property valuations for a BTL What a joke No demand for ‘buy to live’ properties in area No one I have spoken to have ever heard this given as a reason AVOID I don’t even bother applying for mortgages with lenders who use L&G

A nightmare company , legal and general. Had 20,000.00 storm damage to my house and barn , water is flooding in and they said it was wear and tear ? They said your not insured for wear and tear. They offered approx 1,500.00 which I declined . We are now having to go to court . To say I’m disappointed in this company is a gross understatement. I would not recommend anyone to have any dealings with this company whatsoever. My neighbours have had all their storm damage repaired by their insurance companies, I’ve been waiting for two months and nothing . I will be taking them to court and I will post the results .

Today is 8th April 2022. I had a flood in my property 15th July 2021. This damaged the bathroom walls and floor and the kitchen roof, walls and floor. The work did not commence until October. I understand due to the pandemic there will be delays in work. Legal and general have Davies loss adjusters support with the claim. They have been a disgrace, proving to go back on their words numerous times through this experience. Legal and general take no accountability based on the service and work completed by the loss adjusters. So they have a free pass to talk to you how they like and act how they like, and there is nothing you can do. Legal and general have FFDR contractors support with the claim. Again, shambolic. They ignore you when to contact them, they turn up to you property and let themselves in when they want, one of them even used my toilet and didn’t clean up after themselves, yes they left poo all about the toilet. Legal and general, refuse to accept accountability but offer goodwill. The contractors caused a second flood in my property, which damaged my appliances. Legal and general tell me they will not match my items due to ‘no matching items’ in my policy. Legal and general refuse to take accountability for the further damages caused by their own solutions. I am now left with my pine kitchen, having a white units here, oak panels there and mixed matched styles of doors. Legal and general consider this a job well done. The contractors they hired offered cash settlement on unit doors and actually a whole new kitchen. Legal and general refused this. Legal and general are aware that how they and the loss adjusters and contractors they have hired, have caused my mental health to deteriorate, affecting my work and relationships and overall life. The lack of communication and name calling among them, for this to be adults earning a salary, is a real concern. Legal and general have provided no support, which suggests they do not consider their customers well-being in any sort of priority. Legal and general’s mission statement: “Our purpose is to improve the lives of our customers, build a better society for the long term and create value for our shareholders.” - legal and general have continuously failed to deliver on this. To conclude, if you are with legal and general for home insurance, I would cancel and go somewhere else. Make sure you have matching items in your policy. Don’t wait for things to go wrong. The flood I had was not the issue or the stress, is was the people employed and the work processes in place that have blatantly and continuously failed to meet any sort of basic standard. I have been told that not all claims are like mine. I wish I had something good to write but this is the experience I have unfortunately endured. To confirm, legal and general or fairmead as they tell you there name is on the IVR, however they represent themselves, this is who I am referring to.

Courteous, efficient and helpful staff on the telephone. Transaction was completed on time with no hassle. Kept up to date regularly. Pretty unusual nowadays sadly.

Rubbish service, been paying for 9 years, just about to move house and been trying to log in but they got birthdate and email wrong, but can't access my account as I can't pass security! It's been a month and the monkeys can't even correct it - how long does it take to look at a driving license and correct it? What would happen if we actually had a claim?

I recently had a cancer diagnosis and wanted to check the policy I had paid into for 9 years for the security of my son and husband on my death, was all up to date, when I phoned they told me the policy had lapsed in January. My husband also has a policy and when we moved 4 years ago he didn't change the address on mine only his, so any correspondence was going to an old address, however after my husband suffered from mental illness last year, he had taken his eye off the ball and missed a direct debit legal and general said they emailed him regarding this, it had gone to spam? I recently escalated this as a complaint as they are refusing to reinstate the policy. All it would have taken was a phone call from one of their team members to check if we wanted to continue with the policy, after 9 years of payments! Apparently they don't do outbound calls, I'm in disbelief and can't believe how uncaring they are in people's time of need. They said they would possibly reinstate my policy after completing a clean health check, after me telling them I've been diagnosed with bone cancer, laughable! They repeatedly said it was our fault as we didn't change the address in the policy which I get but at least try and contact us a different way, disgusting! 9 years of our hard earned money paid into this company and we are left with nothing!

Tried getting some of my pension but l&g seem to think my pension is theres ,lied to false imformation forms lost ,told id get it within 5/7 days now end of april ,they seem to make there own rules as long as they dint have to give you which is yours anyway awfull company

dont take . with them for 14 years and they will not pay for storm damage to my roof said its ware and tare . sent out a surveyor from bvs in there pocket never checked roof .

Update to previous post, wife was unfortunately diagnosed with Lobular invasive breast cancer, all paperwork submitted in October 2021, contacted L and G i. January, claim letter sent to consultant but no response, contacted consultant and no letter received, contacted L and G 10th February, indicated 2nd letter dispatched, contacted L and G on 4th March and person indicated that the letter was due to be sent and a rep from critical illness would call us back within 2 working days, still waiting!! Appealing response.

If I could give negative stars I would, wife has had a policy with these guys for over 15 years, recently was unfortunately diagnosed with Lobular invasive breast cancer, all documents and medical report submitted over 3 months ago, last correspondence from them over a month ago that they are waiting for response from consultant, consultant has never been approached? Appalling customer service, no updates, no contact!!! Considering these people are dealing with customers with life changing conditions they should hang their heads in shame.

My mum took out a lifetime mortgage with them and sadly passed away last year. Legal and General have been useless ever since. They were still sending letters addressed to Mum even though they know she had died. They sent us a letter mentioning re-possession of the house even though they know that it was under offer. They are now holding up completion because they have delayed seding a final statement. Do not EVER use them.

Terrible experience. Don't buy pet insurance from them. For the last month I have been trying to get the money they owe me and I've been told that on 2nd,3rd,6th,8th,15th,17th,21st and 23 i was paid. Its a different day each time I've rang. I have not received the money owed and my dogs cancer removal operation had to be delayed 22nd because of this and now the 4th January may be cancelled again because they refuse to pay me 500 that they owe. Each time i ring its the same script with variations. I've been paid on different dates(I haven't) they will email finance to sort it out because they can't contact the finance team by phone?!? Some one will call me back (they dont) and then the next day I ring I get the same run around. Even worse is I've emailed the people direct that respond to messages on here and get an encrypted email response that I can't read as I'm unable to reset my email because of an error on their end Contacted a solicitor and financial ombudsman about this today. My poor dog is seriously ill and they will not pay me what I'm owed.

My mum started a terminally I’ll life cover policy in June. She sadly died in September. I am still arguing every week with them to get an answer on the claim. They are a joke. Over 4months and I still don’t know if they will or won’t pay out. Utter disgrace!!!

Wanted to increase life cover, called them up, the first time since taking the policy out or needing to speak to them...there systems were down, called up again 2 hours later and waited for 30 mins on the phone to speak to somebody...when I eventually got through to somebody I needed up cancelling my policy instead as I don't want my wife dealing with these tools during a hard time.

Terrible service applied for my pension and still waiting 3 months later.. Did not received my paperwork then they sent me another clients paperwork. Was promised a manager’s phone call within 48 hours still waiting abysmal service words fail me with this company.

I made a terminal illness claim when my husband became ill, L&G continually sent me text messaged giving incorrect information, they finally paid out the claim 2 weeks after my husband died, addressing the letter to both of us and then followed that up by sending him an email survey to ask how they'd done! I have no words for the level of incompetence.

My term life insurance was, cancelled I recently found out. I was told my dd was cancelled or payment not received. Despite many phone calls asking for confirmation of payments returned I have received nothing. Can Legal and General treat customers this way. I recently had a, death in my family so I was checking up on my life insurance. I was a, non smoker then. But two years later I took out an over 50s plan and I had started smoking. I'm reported this to the FCA, as, I really think this is only about my smoking status that my policy was cancelled. Nothing else and furthermore an over 50s plan I have taken out more recently I'm getting letters, regarding my smoking and also that L & G will contact my gp. Isn't this rather threatening behaviour. I've cancelled my policy and to tell you the truth I will never get L & G insurance again

Had to wait 5 months now for £156, made to feel as if I had to beg, then the person took the wrong account number so this made me wait a Futher 3 weeks and have just received this so would advise no one to go with this firm legal & general with insurance or pensions take it out & invest else where as I never had this problem with nest or people's pension as you can access them through the app
